60% of Americans are atheists according to new study.

I eschew associating with loosely formed groups like Christians and atheists. I prefer to sit on a fence in the middle recognizing that I can neither prove nor disprove the existence of God. Regardless of my position on the topic I don’t allow it to guide my sense of morality and ability to recognize right from wrong.

The statement from article…

“40% of Americans believe God exists and influences human lives.”

does not equal…

“60% of Americans are atheists.”
What about agnostics? I'd suggest a good chunk of people fall into this group. Neither "believe" nor "disbelieve" but don't know.

"A study by the Cultural Research Center has revealed that 'Christianity' in America is becoming an increasingly vague term, as only 40% of Americans believe God exists and influences human lives."

You seem to be missing the last part. Apparently some Americans believe in "god" but don't believe it influences human lives. Those people are not atheists.

On the other hand, it says 2/3 of Americans identify as "Christians." Those people certainly are not atheists.

As with all of your thinking regarding the subject of religion, you are being illogical in an attempt to persuade others (or perhaps just yourself) that your opinion is correct.

The "churched" gave us Trump. So from my perspective the more "unchurched" people we have, the better.

Again, I think it’s that devotion to him that has contributed to the division and abandonment of the church, and Christians have aligned themselves with him to their great detriment

Not sure what's more annoying, religious people or Fred always complaining about religious people

I'm sorry I questioned your dipshit comment in the Burr thread. I'm also sorry that you're a dummy.

Thanks for your perspective.

I try to be accurate.

I'm right about 80% of the time. ;)

Thanks for your perspective.
In other words Brian, this thread falls in the 20% category.

Ooo I've also talked to hundreds of people online and in person the past 8 years or so and I'd estimate 90% are atheists.

An interesting video:

You posted your survey as your evidence. But the clear words of the survey results do not support your statement.

If you were intellectually honest you would admit you misinterpreted the survey rather than just start flailing.

I already explained the contradictions in the survey in post #32.

No, that post did not address the issue, at all. Let's start again. I don't know why I bother, because you have never argued honestly so I can't imagine you are going to start now.

Your title claims that 60% of Americans are atheists. Your support was this:

"From the first paragraph of my link: Only 40% of Americans believe God exists."

This statement is false. That is not the first sentence in your link. This is not an opinion, this is a statement of objective fact. I don't want to hear you pointing in a dozen other directions for other "evidence" supporting your claim. Stick to this. Your statement regarding the first sentence in your article is false.
