75% chance Kirk is back next year? "I don't think he's done yet....I think he's got 1 more year & that will be it."

What I would love to see is give the staff the money to go out and buy who they need for a couple years and see what they can do. We know we are up against much bigger war chests and that won't change with a change in head coach.
Tell that to Indiana and all that talent they brought in from the juggernaut known as James Madison.

Yeah bro he got loyalty from players he recruited. They were 3 stars. You pick one single season and act like this dude is Nick Saban. Let's talk in a couple years when he has to go out there as Indiana coach and bring in guys he is not as familiar with.

PP has lost 4 this year. Awful D. Soft, can't tackle. Used to not being able to cover anyone with a pulse but this year even worse.

Dunno about 4

Despite ISUs late field goal, the offense could have put this game away in the first half.

UCLA only scored 20 on their home field. Some decent offense could have won that won that one as well.

Then that makes the 10 win season incredibly impressive.

But again, 10 wins stands impressive on its own. It doesn't need my footnotes

Yes, the offense was so historically bad that the overall result is unfathomable. But the underlying point is what could have been accomplished with a QB who was at least better than “Taking a knee”

How low does it have to go to pull the trigger in your opinion?
Any current amount is fine by me. The inflation in salaries will continue. If Iowa finds an adequate replacement and gets him under contract soon the savings of that long term will negate the buyout now. If Ferentz leaves on his own in 3 years we could be throwing $100 million at the next coach long term. Then imagine what the buyout would be if that guy doesn't work out. Cut the cord and get rebuilding sooner than later. Nebraska was paying a lot of coaches and athletic directors. But they were still paying them less than the current replacements cost.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he tries to put together one more cycle over the next 4-5 years. Maybe he will use that stretch to become a figurehead with some strategy guidance while allowing his coordinators to run the show.

Nah, he’s an ego maniac control freak who destroys QBs and likes to punt. He’ll have Iowa in 5 to 8 win seasons for that stretch and stay the course with his philosophy. Fans will be suicidal by 2030, imprisoned in Kirk’s Uncle Tom racism program where Nico Ragaini was the star WR.

Won't matter who the HC is, gonna need a lot more money to really compete. Gundy and Aranda have told us directly this world requires money to buy players.

tOSU's payroll (I mean, NIL) is $20M this year; would love to know what Iowa's is.

This almost feels like the Oakland A's (Iowa) vs the Los Angeles Dodgers (tOSU)

I would argue he's also motivated to finish his career with a 60.00% win percentage.

One of the stipulations for the College Football Hall of Fame is you have to have won 60% of your games.

Kirk has been the head coach in 358 games. He's won 59.78% of those games.

By season's end Kirk will be up to 361 games (2 reg season games + 1 bowl game are left).

To get to 60.00% by the end of the 2024 season, Kirk will have to finish at 3-0 to get to 217-144 (60.11%).

To get to 60.00% by the end of the 2025 season, Kirk will have to finish this season & next season (assuming 13 games) no worse than 11-5 to get to 225-149 (60.16%).

Kirk's current record:

.......12-21 (36.4%):...............3 years at Maine..........(1990-92)
202
-123 (62.2%):.........26th season at Iowa (1999-present)
..................................................................
214-144 (59.78%) Overall Record
========================
Thanks for the numbers!!! If Kirk goes 3-0 to end this year, retirement makes sense to me. Hall of Fame is much greater than most BIG wins. JMHO.

It took some kind of "insider" to come up with the brilliant prediction that KF would go through the motions for one more season so that he can stumble upon B1G win #206 and then hang it up? I think that's been pretty obvious for a while.

Man, some of you guys really hate all things Iowa. From KF to Phil P to supposed easy schedules to hating on Cade and on and on everyday every thread. This forum is almost unbearable with all the venom you pukes spew.

lol. This is a program with deep pockets and a roster regularly fitted with NFL guys that has managed the most laughable offense and passing game in the post Covid era. They’ve fielded some of the worst offenses in modern Big Ten history. Oh, and the head coach allowed his wholly unqualified son to preside over this disaster and didn’t have the balls to end it like his lady boss did.

I understand to some degree the KF hate some of you have but now it's all things Iowa. Phil, the defense, supposed easy schedules, QB's, recruiting etc etc etc. and it's all day everyday in every thread.

Phil’s defense has taken a step back. Anyone can see that. This is as bad as they’ve been in a long time. That said, they still hardly give up points and are always keeping Iowa in the game when their offense trips over their shoelaces. 90% of Iowa fans would rather Ferentz leave than PP.

Iowa has the worst QB room in the country right now. It really is that bad. These guys have clearly failed at the position time and time again, from recruiting them, to developing them, to managing them in the game and throughout the season. It’s some of the worst you will see at this level of play.

Re schedules - tough to argue that they had a favorable run of scheduling from 21-24. Looks like the top output will be some CCG beatdowns and a Music City Bowl trophy.

Ummm, those players were recruited, played for, and coached by him at…….JMU. Are you insinuating that the players he was able to recruit, develop, play, and coach at JMU, wouldn’t be interested in playing for him at Indiana? Literally makes no sense.

Throw in the fact, he used those same players to elevate JMU to the FBS, and in their first year generated hot debate on the first-year FBS non-participation bowl rule, in spite of an incredible season. The following year, another success, and their first bowl game. Man, I’m not on Cignetti’s d/ck, but you have to give credit, and an honest take, when it’s due.

Who knows. Does anywhere here know just what all these other teams will be next season after their personal losses? There's always more to consider. Its like people not voting Jans girls in the top 25 because CC22 left. It still doesn't measure the heart or readiness of those waiting in the wings for THEIR shot.

Wow...five home games to start with in conference play? That at least should help a little.

I'm quite sure thats not the games in the order they'll be played in the conference. There is NO way that our schedule would be 5 home games followed by 4 road games in conference. Thats why all those games say both dates and times TBD. To be determined.....
