Lunardi just switched us to there. Ive seen us there on other projections too. Im going to just relegate myself to expecting this come Sunday. The loss to Penn State was brutal but our whole body of work should be looked at. In my opinion if us and Ohio State are both 8 seeds, they should be the lower one, we beat them twice. Regardless, bring on the Wildcats if that's what our awesome Iowa luck entitles us.

he does nothing but guess, lets wait till the Official brackets are announced before going all willie nillie about what seed we get.

Who cares? I want to win that first game then we can worry about the next one.

Might as well beat them on Sunday rather than in the final 4.

Even if we are relegated to an 8 seed, quite literally a 25% chance of drawing Kentucky. I'll take the field.

That's not how it works, in regards to the 25% thing. They will rank within the 8 seeds, and whomever they determine is the lowest of the 8's will be in the bracket with the highest 1 seed, ala Kentucky. Don't get me wrong, Ill be watching selection Sunday excited as can be, but my heart tells me were getting the Wildcats. And no I wont be looking past our first round opponent (well 2nd round w/e). They can be beat and honestly beating KY would put Iowa front and center for every recruit watching as much as a deep run, if not more, in the NCAA tourney would. Im not scared and our players wont be either.

Who's a higher or lower eight seed doesn't really enter into where they will be seeded. By the time they are that deep into seeding it's more about where others from your conference are seeded and if you have played them twice and of course the rules apply to all the other seeds.

This, plus the fact that the committee's "rankings of 8 seeds" is at best completely unknown or unsettled and at worst completely arbitrary. I'd wager that inner seed rankings are probably obsolete by seed 6, maybe earlier.

If you told me before the season our season would end with a Round of 32 loss to Kentucky, I would take it in a heartbeat

Have to remind myself to keep that perspective. Hawks haven't won a freaking NCAA game since 2001. Getting in the 8/9 game means Iowa would be playing a 50/50 game in the first round. Win that one and go from there.

But really hope that Iowa isn't in Kentucky's bracket. All of the 1 seeds would be 10+ point favorites against Iowa, but Hawks would have a legitimate (25% or more) chance against the others. Not so with Kentucky.

I like your fight Wyo...just not going to give in that the loss to penn st might have made a tiny bit of difference.

I hope our players aren't scared but somehow I doubt it. Everyone knows that Kentucky is a huge favorite w/ multiple NBA first round picks on their roster. I would bet that every team in the field except for maybe 3-4 (Wiscy, Duke, Virginia, Arizona) are scared of Kentucky and would shoot themselves right out of the game on nerves alone.

Any chance the Hawks end up a 9 seed? That Penn State loss really hurt. Iowa has a solid body of work, but just based on the rankings towards the end of the season, the polls have the Hawks in that 32-36 range. Would it be beneficial to be the best 9 seed or does the best 9 play the worst 8 in Kentucky's bracket?

we were a pretty solid 7 seed imo going into thursday. i'm not sure i buy that the loss actually hurts us all that much.

i feel like we would have had to beat wisconsin today to move up to the 6th.

as frustrating as that loss was to penn state, i think it more or less just settles us into the 7 seed.

Fighting the good fight. Negativity will not run rampant on my watch!

It works nothing like that. You can look at the selection committee criteria, just do a Google search. If you have Google :)

Really think there is an extreme over reaction to the PSU loss. Even if it knocked us to an 8 we were going to be an under dog in round 2 if we won that game or not.

If Wisconsin wins and is a 1 and we have an 8 seed we'll have a 33% chance of getting UK. Also, though, if Wisc is a 1 then they might need to swap us with a 7 to balance brackets avoid rematches, etc.
