A double double double for the boys from Moline

I thought ballo would dominate Owen last nite.
Turns out that ballos size edge is not an asset out of paint.
Owens mobility proved decisive.
Maybe Owen is playing his way into better conditioning?

Great job by whole team.

I think he is saying it was a pair of double-doubles.

I know that there are numerous posters on here that criticize Brock for missing one asset to the game and that's height, I get it, but Brock has more positives with his game then not being as tall has some would like.
He provides stability, he's smart, is great on defensive, has above average passing ability, he values assists before taking shots himself, but he will score more as he gets into his junior and senior years, his 3 point shooting is getting better and he's 3rd on the team in free throw average at 73%, he's ultra quick, and ultra fast and has a dribbling game to avoid double teams. As of today he's averaging 9.8 points a game, just over 6 assists a game and just over 2 turnovers a game in 26 minutes of playing time and is only a sophomore.
BUT, those numerous posters only see his stature as their only complaint, shows me that they are either not paying attention to his other assets or they are just don't know any better. I'm sure those posters will continue to point out he size as a negative but I'm also sure he doesn't care what they think. He knows how good he is and the value he provides to the Iowa team and the coaching staff knows that as well, that is all that matters.

Brock had another good game. Someone should check on LukaDuka, I fear for his health. NVM, hopefully he chokes on crow.
Everyone had a good game, I'm surprised Indiana is as bad as they are. And yes, BH played well after that stinker of a game before. Playing well in a blowout win isn't as meaningful, just saying. And I thought Thelwell played better than Brock. His defense ignited this team. And Freeman had his best game of the year. Makes it easier for Brock.

But thanks for thinking of me! 😁

Well no shit! Playing without DT hurts Harding and when O is in foul trouble it hurts Harding too. Harding's not going to carry the team missing DT and O in foul trouble half the time. That's 40% of the team missing...

OK, here we go again. Yes his height is one issue and if you haven't noticed the last two games the teams have been intentionally targeting him and taking him into the lane to shoot over him. Fran played a lot more zone last night and it was very effective. Hope they continue with that zone & defensive efforts. But Brock also tends to over dribble which can stifle ball movement. He dribbles into the lane, picks up his dribble without anyone to pass to. Part of this is his teammates not getting open, but they are busy watching him dribble. And he cannot finish at the rim. Throws up some circus shots in the lane. Please clean this up.

He has improved from last year, but he still has a lot of room for improvement. And as far as his scoring in his junior & senior years, if Iowa is relying on him to average 15+ points per game it does not bode well for the Hawks. He's a decent change of pace guard who probably would not start at any other team in the top half of the Big10. Yeah he was great in HS, but did he ever win anything without Owen there? He has a lot of room for improvement and consistency.

We will continue to agree to disagree...

He's not carrying this team in any instance. If Iowa needs to rely on BH to "carry" them it's going to be a long long season.

And this is exactly when your starting PG should be stepping up & not playing his worst game of the season. I guarantee you Drew Thelwell would have stepped up his game to next level if BH was out. Not be a shrinking violet like Brock was the past game.

Harding has been pretty good all season so far, better than I expected.

Go watch the nebbie & wisky games . He sucked. lil hoiberg out played him. He needs to clean up the little things. especially circus shots in the lane & picking up his dribble down low.

Everybody has bad games. If you haven't you've never played the game. He has gotten consistently better in his time here. He's playing pretty good for us, and is definitely a big ten caliber point guard. Maybe not the best, definitely belongs in this league.

He does need to work on those things but he also creates a ton of opportunities for others. He has worked on his outside jumper and that has become a more effective weapon for him. It could be a real tool if he gets people to bite on that step back and then blow by for a layup, floater or assist.

I'm still on the positive side for Harding. I like his game.

I agree, but more often than not when he does get by his defender he's throwing up low percentage shots in the lane. He could get away with that in HS, not the Big10.

He’s one of the seven most important players on the team this season. Better get used to it. Or keep constantly whining & bitching about him, whatever floats your boat.

He draws defenders when he does that which is actually great. He just needs to locate the open wings. Same with Owen when the hard doubles come.

Best seven? Yeah, I'd agree with that. He's a decent change of pace player. He's a liability on defense when playing man to man. If you didn't notice that during the nebbie & wiskey games when their guards were targeting him & driving him in the lane to shoot over him, Fran did well by playing zone against Indiana and hope he sticks with it.

And for the record, I'm not whining and bitching. I'm constructively criticizing his game to those on here that thinks he walks on water and is the second coming of Ronnie Lester.

Yeah right, those are the words you use to hide your distain of Brock, we know, he's not black and 6 foot 3. Do us all a favor, shut the eff up until the end of the season, you look like such an idiot railing on him after every game. Such a pussy.....

There you go bringing race into the discussion. I've never once mentioned the color of his skin. I guess you're showing your true colors. And I'll repeat for you, I'm only criticizing him to offset your incessant worshipping & crowing about how he's Iowa's savior. Get off your high horse & I'll back off.

And by the way, I am what I eat.... so I have that going for me....
