Worst thing that could have happened was them winning the BIG10 tourney...people thought he was a decent coach for a bit. The best player in the country basically doesn't touch the ball for huge swaths of the game.

Beat me to it. Fran's never been a good shooter.Sure. Blame Fran for poor shooting.
Believe it or not, but coach's bare some responsibility when players don't come ready or motivated to play.Sure. Blame Fran for poor shooting.
Sure. Blame Fran for poor shooting.
Sometimes the ball doesn't go in the basket. No problem with effort.Believe it or not, but coach's bare some responsibility when players don't come ready or motivated to play.
Poor shooting kept jbos piss poor d out there or cmac to take the last shit of first half. Not getting our best player the ballSure. Blame Fran for poor shooting.
Yes. It's good stuff.Poor shooting kept jbos piss poor d out there or cmac to take the last shit of first half. Not getting our best player the ball
Need I go on?
That is a team you shoot bad against and still beat by 10 if you are good team. Zero intensity and fire. I can understand that for the first couple tv timeouts but come on. You just sit there looking confused and never rip in to them as people get blown past for layups?
Richmond somehow wasn’t out of gas.This. Where was the intensity and fire from the weekend? They run out of gas? (Very possible)
Nah.. These are 20 year olds that just had 4 days to recover from their last game. Richmond was in exactly the same situation.This. Where was the intensity and fire from the weekend? They run out of gas? (Very possible)
Who??? His wife???Worst thing that could have happened was them winning the BIG10 tourney...people thought he was a decent coach for a bit. The best player in the country basically doesn't touch the ball for huge swaths of the game.
How about playing man to man and JBO trying to guard Gilyard. How about not giving the refs an earful to keep that garbage in check? How about not setting up plays to get Keegan the ball on the block?Sure. Blame Fran for poor shooting.
Is a poor defensive game plan fair game?Sure. Blame Fran for poor shooting.
But….but…..Fran isn’t out there playing defense. Is a poor defensive game plan fair game?
What was wrong with the defensive game plan? The Hawks gave up 67 points, but normally score closer to 80.Is a poor defensive game plan fair game?
Imagine if we didn’t let them have free access to the rim. What was wrong with the defensive game plan? The Hawks gave up 67 points, but normally score closer to 80.
Yes, which comes to my ultimate point. Fran's teams are some of the most mentally soft teams I have ever witnessed. I'll give him credit for the late season play and BTT this year, but in general it is a problem every year. Teams take on the traits of their coach.Nah.. These are 20 year olds that just had 4 days to recover from their last game. Richmond was in exactly the same situation.
Agreed, I didn’t see him shoot once.Sure. Blame Fran for poor shooting.
Actually, he IS the one you blame. It’s one and done, folks. You can’t keep chucking up three’s and hope to shoot your way out of a slump. That’s not a luxury you have in a tournament format. We shot 50% on all other shots. You change the game plan. That’s on the coach, not the playersSure. Blame Fran for poor shooting.
It's the Jimmie's and Joe's and always has been. Unfortunately we got Jill and Jane today.Coach K and Bill Bilichik should get zero credit for their teams successes. They weren't out there shooting the ball or catching the passes.
3 pt shooting has been a major part of this team all year. JBo, Keegan, Kris, Tony and Sandfort were a combined 2-20 from 3.Actually, he IS the one you blame. It’s one and done, folks. Amazing they didn't shoot better than 42% from the field if they had free access to the rim.Imagine if we didn’t let them have free access to the rim.
The difference is during the year you can afford to shoot your way out of a slump and hopefully right the ship for the next game. The difference here is you don’t get a next game. Great tournament coaches know you have to play for that game and that game only. They adjust. You don’t adjust, you go home. Can’t ignore the fact we were 50% inside the 3 point line.3 pt shooting has been a major part of this team all year. JBo, Keegan, Kris, Tony and Sandfort were a combined 2-20 from 3.
So, a team that has hit 41% of their 3'd since Feb 1st should just give up on it? At what point do you tell the players to pass on good looks from 3, even though that's how they got here?
In the flow of the game, there were some forced shots at the 3 line and some inside the 3 line. Beyond that, the Hawks got pretty good looks. Asking the team to pass on an open three when Keegan is buried in Spiders doesn't sound like a plan. The difference is during the year you can afford to shoot your way out of a slump and hopefully right the ship for the next game. I understand your point, but how long do you wait for someone to get hot? We waited, it didn’t happen.
You’re right, hex. Part of a coach’s job is to get his team mentally ready. That is a team you shoot bad against and still beat by 10 if you are good team. Zero intensity and fire. Amazing Fran shi!t the bed once again...well, no it's not.Amazing they didn't shoot better than 42% from the field if they had free access to the rim.
Richmond somehow wasn’t out of gas.
Ball just didn’t go in.Kept the streak alive no sweet 16s in what 26 years of coaching?
