Tom brought up in his column the idea that it's not fair for people who criticized KF for being too conservative in the past to criticize now for being too aggressive. Which makes me wonder - what was on your wish list when you thought about having a more aggressive Kirk? For me, the list was pretty short.
- valuing each offensive possession and making a reasonable attempt to score points at the end of the half/game.
- more aggressive play calling; shots down field. Wrinkles in the offense that aren't predictable and play off of things you already do (ie: pump and go off of the short passing game) Again trying to score points.
- playing playmakers on special teams. Use guys that can make plays as returners.
I think it's too simplistic to just say "hey he's going for it on 4th down, you have to accept it". You can be aggressive in different components of the game without making bad decisions that aren't appropriate for the type of game you're in - like not taking a FG in a game that was going to be low scoring and tight.
