Agon results

That was awesome. Tony's brother running onto the mat for a hug and his corner going absolutely nuts.

Pico is good, but he is extremely limited on offense. If he can't snap you down he can't score. I thought Brent might score another takedown, but that was about what I expected.

So kemmerer won? I can't find any results but on here and I couldn't tell if he beat stroker or not

Kemerer won by i think 1 point

Metcalf won 4-1…lot of hand-fighting, but Pico didn't get close to scoring offense

Metcalf was an offensive machine in college. what happened to him? I'm sad to say I can't wait for him to go after seeing that match.

Brent just too strong for Pico at this point. Still amazing an 18 year old can even be on the mat with him though and keep it close.

Side note. Two of metcalfs points were penalty points for Pico head slaps

Unfortunately, I'm not sure he'll be in wrestling long enough for us to see his true potential. Definitely a talent

They must have put Brent on the clock for passivity early on.

Dear God, man. Have you ever wrestled in your life? This isn't college anymore and this isn't folk style. He just beat a guy who has shown he is one of the nation's best and who has also beat some of the world's best. Go play your X-Box.

I'm guessing it was kinda like when metcalf faced Palmer in the finals. He just controlled it so there wouldn't be any doubt

I think Pico got his point when Brent got put on the clock and didn't score.
Brent got a TD for 2, 1 for the head slaps, and I thought he got the other when PIco didn't score when he got put on the clock.

The announcers didn't do a great job of announcing who was getting warned for inactivity and who and when the wrestlers were put on the clock - and the ref wasn't always easy to see/follow with his hand signals.

Loved the event. Best five bucks I've ever spent on entertainment. The quality of the onscreen graphics, production,,Etc need a lot of work though.

Not an offensive machine...Metcalf outscored his four opponents at last year's U.S. Open 39-0. Metcalf needs to pick it up.

Moronic post.

Anyone else see the recurring problem here? The scoring makes no sense. It shouldn't be this hard to figure out how the refs arrived at the final score

My thoughts as well clw. It's almost like work trying to figure out the scoring. Probably the single greatest reason why I stick strickly with folk.

Far too many delays for challenges. Totally killed the atmosphere, IMO.

Kemerer had a pretty good challenge, though. Not sure how they ruled it in his favor, but his challenge at the end won him the match. Still, way too much waiting around for the refs to make up their minds.

The scoring is usually pretty easy to figure out - especially in Metcalf's match. It was a bit difficult to follow the ref and the announcers did not do a very good job of explaining passivity or when the wrestlers were put on the clock.

Now when you get into mad scrambles with wrestlers exposing their backs, it can get pretty subjective as to who initiated/caused the exposure like in DSJ's match or at the end of Kemerer's match.

The time for video review was ridiculous though. The announcers didn't really explain that if you lose the review, you lose a point either.

The event would have been better for the typically folk watching wrestling fan if they would have explained the freestyle rules a bit better or, even better, had a couple of videos of famous wrestlers explaining/showing how the scoring in freestyle works. Missed opportunity to turn some freestyle haters into freestyle lovers IMO. I didn't like to watch the old freestyle wrestling, but since the new rule changes, it is pretty entertaining and exciting - especially since folk is turning into a bore.

Great points, Jack. A good scoreboard with wrestlers' names on it would have helped. It was often unclear whose score was whose. Also, Scott Casber does a nice job of PA, I think, but it would have been helpful if he'd interjected brief explanations like "Pico is now no the shot clock -- Metcalf will be awarded a point if he doesn't score in 30 seconds," etc. Like a football PA announcer explaining penalties, announcing down and distance, etc. -- would have been very helpful for the fans to keep up and remain engaged.
