Maybe he could be the Hawkeyes' next Kent McCausland. From 1995-1999 McCausland was 214 for 472 from three, 45%. I believe he led the entire NCAA in three-point percentage one year and was in the top two or three another year. And somehow, Dr. Tom was able to get him shots even though everyone knew McCausland could only hurt you one way. But that one skill was superior, and that young man had one heckuva career.

So, FWIW, I don't believe anyone was drooling over Nicholas Baer when he walked on. But that didn't turn out so bad.

I'd say give the Vanderloo kid some respect. Maybe he'll never be more than a practice player. Or maybe he'll be a whole lot more than that.
I believe your correct Aristotle. Little Mac led the NCAA his senior year at around 52 or 53% I believe. As you said pretty remarkable to do that as a one trick pony in the BIG.

Vanderloo sounds like a quality addition. I like his size and stats. Could be a significant contributor. Welcome aboard!

Not old enough to remember Fred Brown. Until Jobu came along Kent McC was the best shooter I'd ever seen in a Hawkeye jersey; which makes him the best shooter between at least 1971 and 2017. If you're only going to have one trick that's a good one to have.

Actually by his junior and especially senior seasons Kent was a decent defender. Not good one on one but Dr. Davis played almost exclusively zones. Kent had really good instincts and ball visibility. He could crowd up zones, be in the right passing lane, etc... Having said that, Kent wasn't on the floor for D he was one the floor because no matter where he went when the Hawks had the ball a defender had to follow.

I remember "downtown Freddie Brown", and his running mate JJ. They both averaged around 27pts per game in 1970 without the aid of a three point line. The Hawks went 14-0 and averaged over a 100 a game I believe in the BIG that year. Games weren't on the tube though, so listened on the radio. Would have been a lot of fun to watch.

Watched him play a few times. Incredibly smart player. Not super quick. Could be a force in smaller division or NAIA, but I understand wanting to be part of a D1 program. Good in-state get.

He seems very Iowa yawn worthy. Great fit. I’m sure he can’t drive to the basket either.

Connor shot 42% from 3 his senior year. I think the 38 was his career 3%. We will miss Connor if he goes to baseball only no matter what he shoots % wise at Iowa. He takes care of the ball under pressure and gets us into our offense. He will give Jordan a much needed break tomorrow and likely play extra minutes due to Cincy's press.
