President Donald Trump ordered airstrikes on ISIS and affiliated targets in Somalia on Saturday, according to his administration.
While the US military has routinely struck targets in the East African nation in recent years, Saturday’s strikes would be among the first Trump has ordered during his second term in office.
“This morning I ordered precision Military air strikes on the Senior ISIS Attack Planner and other terrorists he recruited and led in Somalia. These killers, who we found hiding in caves, threatened the United States and our Allies. The strikes destroyed the caves they live in, and killed many terrorists without, in any way, harming civilians. Our Military has targeted this ISIS Attack Planner for years, but Biden and his cronies wouldn’t act quickly enough to get the job done. I did! The message to ISIS and all others who would attack Americans is that ‘WE WILL FIND YOU, AND WE WILL KILL YOU,’” Trump wrote on X.
The strikes targeted “ISIS-Somalia operatives in the Golis mountains,” Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wrote in a statement.
“Our initial assessment is that multiple operatives were killed in the airstrikes and no civilians were harmed,” Hegseth wrote, adding that the strikes would degrade the terrorist group’s ability to plan future attacks.
The White House said it was not commenting beyond Trump’s social media post.
Past targets of US strikes in Somalia include fighters from ISIS and the group al-Shabaab, which is associated with al Qaeda.

Of course Biden has bombed regularly. I don’t care. I’m fine with it. But how many threads would we find from people claiming they’re voting for Trump to stop Biden’s “warmongering”? Yet here we are. As one example.
