Could be targeting this girl with the eighth pic she turns 20 in November, which would make her eligible if I’m not mistaken.

Appears to have very high upside. But I’ve also noticed plenty of these international players take a little while to get acclimated. And she’s pretty thin, but the belief is she can play the three and four. Somewhat kind of like Leonie Fiebich from New York.

I love her as a prospect, just not positive what she’ll contribute next year. She appears to be a latecomer, but I’m thinking that’s probably because of her age and people not being sure she’ll come over. As an example Leonie got drafted in 2020 by LA I believe and didn’t show up until she was 24 at New York.

I’ve been studying this draft a little bit and although historically these girls drafted in the second round, don’t typically make a team at least right away & many in the first actually…

This is a pretty deep draft when they’re mocking players like Shyanne Sellers, Haley Van Lith, Laila Phelia, Janiah Barker, Ayoka Lee & Makayla Timpson in the 2nd round.

Looks like a more of a 3-shooting 3 based on limited video. Looks pretty sleight for the paint. Then again, who knows how she will fill out in the short run. I would be thinking hard about ayoka Lee to have some more size down low on defense. Then again if the fever attract a free agent for the paint that need lessens. It will be interesting.

Agreed on the 3 likely being her slot, but 6-4 perimeter length would be nice on D. As for Lee, she is mostly slotted 2nd round, but this is a strange and deep draft. I’ve seen players like Amore, Timpson, Sellers, Barker, Paopoa anywhere from 1st round to 2nd.

Morrow, 3rd to 8th..,. lots of moving parts. At least this might be a draft where you might pick up a player that can stick in the second round for a change.

What I can't believe is you guys are actually discussing the WNBA draft LOL?
Caitlin is the only athletic excellence I am emotionally invested in. Iowa WBB, MBB, and FB are not excellent, and do not look to be anytime soon. I don't care about any professional team. Not really, anyway. I followed Dejean pretty closely, but he is a cog on a very good team and is one of many great players, and certainly isn't one of the best football players in the world, when accounting for all positions on a team. Caitlin is one of the top players in the world in her sport, regardless of position, and I'm going to ride that pony. That means I am interested in the W draft and free agency, to see how her story plays out.

I suppose if you don't follow any other professional sports.......otherwise the WNBA is wayyyyyyyy down the pecking order.
Don't get me wrong. Loved Clark at Iowa, but that was about the team. I'm loyal to the school, not to individual players, even if i appreciate their contributions. Especially Clark's

Generally, it all comes back to the Hawkeyes for me. I watch the NFL, but I am not emotionally invested. My favorite teams to watch consist of following the best former Hawkeyes. So it is the lions and eagles. If my son was not a rabid Pelicans fan because of Zion, I wouldn't watch a single minute of non-playoff NBA ball. Also, there are no NBA stars who played for the Hawks. Non-playoff baseball is boring AF. Again, no Hawks. While Caitlin isn't a Hawk, her success could still impact recruiting and the fortunes of the Iowa WBB program. That is a draw, as is her growing up in WDM which is 15 minutes from my house. It does not hurt that she was at Iowa for many years, thus building up a lot of goodwill. Plus, I find her genuinely entertaining to watch, so I have an interest in her team. If she retired tomorrow, I would go back to not caring about the fever, much less the W as a whole.

Fair enough. If what she does contributes to recruiting success then I agree. Difference with me is Im following the Penguins, Phoenix Suns, Iowa BB, Steelers football......too much on the menu to add anymore.

I would rather watch a kid from Iowa be a worldwide icon than any of those, other than maybe Iowa BB. Especially when she sets such a good example as a role model for kids.

You nailed it!!! my feelings, almost to a T. I’d like to add I don’t have any real animosity towards any of Iowas sports programs, in fact, I’ll take it a step further. Most of my frustration comes from the fans and their constant boorish attitude. When I know damn good and well, they are gonna be the same way with the next Coach.

I’m not invested in the hierarchy of the Fever & I know they have a good coach no matter what the “bitchers” will eventually say. And they will have things to say when they lose. So I really don’t care who coaches the fever.

I just want to see them grow and compete as an organization. She is a dream to watch. I can’t wait until the season starts!

And again, you must be my brother lost at birth. I love football, but I have no favorite NFL team. I pick the games. I watch by how many Iowa players they have… I do like the Chiefs, but that’s because they were my dad‘s favorite team. He passed away eight years ago, and I watch the Packers Because they have historically had quite a few Iowa players & my youngest son likes them.

I don't have any animosity toward any Iowa program. I have varying degrees of interest and apathy. When we have a great player, I will follow that player into the pro ranks, hoping that their pro career will trickle back down to the Iowa program in some positive way. It just so happens that in my opinion, since following Iowa sports in the early 90s (when I moved to the state as a teenager), Caitlin is the most outstanding professional athlete we have had. And, it is not particularly close. Like you say, she is a dream to watch. One of one, none like any before her regardless of year, team, or league. I can appreciate not caring for the details, but for me, I like to understand everything in context and how one thing relates to other things. This means I got up to speed on W salary cap, free agency rules, available free agents, coaches, etc. I also cannot wait until the season starts!

Yes, yes and well…yes. I’m very invested in free agency & the draft. Incidentally, the “right fit” is more important than the best available in my mind.

You gave your opinion on the WNBA. Fine. The NFL and NBA has fans. Personally, I don't watch NFL games not involving the Chiefs, b/c of Mahone, and the 49ers, b/c of Purdy. The NBA is a nightly, boring, redundant episode.

I watch women's college BB, Iowa, Iowa State and Drake men's BB. Caitlin opened the nation's eyes to women's college BB which obviously carried over to the WBNA. Honestly, I don't find NCAA w/o her as entertaining simply b/c she is/was so extraordinary. The current players are not on the same level. Put side-by-side videos of the Hildago, Bueckers or Watkins and....no way.

To each their own. But don't be surprised fans lose interest in pro sports. Playing for money is different than playing for the love of the sport. Baseball players making gargantuan amounts of money so fans can't afford to attend boring, shitty games no one cares or will remember.

On the contrary, with the new money and payment rules college athletics is becoming all about the money, and it's not a level playing field, which degrades and saps interest. I think more people will gravitate to the professional leagues because there are at least rules in place and player contracts that give you a stable and reliable product.

Teams like OSU football already finding the loopholes and gaming the system before it's even in place.

You're voluntarily on the women's college basketball page here- & you can't believe it, huh? Do you go to the Iowa Football page and find it astonishing to see them discussing the draft there too?
