ALBEDO Update

Over the long term, I agree with you, but over the short term the evidence doesn't back that up
I get your point. We certainly affect earth's climate that's why I wanted to include that. But what is a feasible option to combat it? Humans can certainly make an effort to be better but earth will continue to do its thing.

Renewable energy, that is already cheaper than oil, natural gas or coal.
And dropping.
You seem to be knowledgable. How do you feel about Nuclear? I've been told it is the cleanest source of energy. Is it true that some of the nuclear catastrophes were in part due to outdated equipment? Chernobyl/Fukushima?

Stop burning fossil fuels.

Shift the global economy to carbon-neutral energy. Just like Exxon was planning to do in the 1980s, until they shifted gears and went full-potato.

Their actions are well documented in the Frontline series I'd posted a few weeks back.

Deniers are like "ahhh, f*ck it, I'll be dead anyways"
yeah, and?

i mean, whether we're deniers or not, if we're really all just transient ugly bags of mostly water anyway, why, in the deepest sense, should we actually give a shit?

Is it? How do you go about changing this supposed crisis without shutting down the world's civilizations?
LOL...doing nothing phvcks civilization. You think what we have NOW is a border crisis? You ain't seen nothin' yet. There will be millions of people escaping regions that can no longer support them. They'll be pouring over borders all over the world. Wars will be fought over access to water. Just in this country, over 40% of the people live in the 10% of land that's on our coasts. They'll be moving and trillions in infrastructure will be lost...or required to protect what's there so those people can stay put. Wait'll you see the bill for that.

Nuclear is critical. Absolutely essential. And "near"ly impossible because no one - left or right - wants to live anywhere near one.

Yup...I get your point. Phvck my ugly bag of water kids and their ugly bag of water kids and REALLY phuck their ugly bag of water kids. I'll be dead...why should I care?

Did you read my first sentence? That's the opposite of denial. I actually support your insight into other sources of warming than CO2 emissions.

Tell me how we can control solar flares.

We can absolutely do more to control radiant heat, and decrease the effect of carbon emissions. As suggested in post 4, we can start with more trees and less concrete (and asphalt).
You posted the following: "Some of those reasons we can control." So, you are saying we can help combat climate change or not?

actually i'm Walter Sobchak, and this is precisely the irony i'm trying to point out - it's the ****ing nihilists in every other aspect of life that seem to have glommed on to this with the greatest adhesion, which makes no sense.

why are you so emotional about them? they're ugly bags of water.. for that matter, why are they still even living in your house?

that depends on whether or not you have kids and/or give a shit about them.

We should be building the fvck out of molten salt nuclear reactors

jesus dude, read a book on the topic. at least seem intelligent
Climate change happens. There are lots and lots of reasons. Some of those reasons we can control, and some we can't. The notion that we can manipulate climate change now is simply dreaming. Climate change on a much more massive scale was happening before human beings started BBQ'ing dinosaurs.

I get that. But do you honestly think meaningful change can occur, in the grand scheme of things? The climate will always change regardless of if there are flecks of dust (people) on this planet or not.

I asked a simple question, to which you replied- The response of the ignorant.

Answer my question. Or can you not?

You resorted to hyperbole.... crashing the our civilization?!? Like we'd go back to the stone age if we'd start using renewables

Thanks and I'll reply - how would you propose to make the world "sustainable" and still function as we do today using only renewables? The answer is "you can't."

See, you are ignorant..you can with 5th generation nuclear (i.e. molten salt)...for your education

No. And it has everything to do with your comment. If people recognized what we were doing we could absolutely mitigate what’s coming. But “the climates always changing” folks are in the way. The Earth is warming and it’s entirely our fault. Period. End of story. We’re cooking our childrens’ futures in service to our economy. They’re going to curse us. And we’ll deserve it.
