That’ll never ever fly. Sixteen teams with the first round on home fields but the bowls get the games after that.Yeah, get rid of byes. Robbing all those teams of a home playoff game also. The neutral site bullshit needs to change as well. The only game that should be at a neutral site is the championship game. Everything else is at the higher seeded teams field. Fvck the bowls.
Stupid format. 16 teams with AQers ranked 1-16 and no byes. Same amount of weekends.
I tend to agree but who would you send? Best 8? Conference champs?Eight teams is enough.
This. That’ll never ever fly. Sixteen teams with the first round on home fields but the bowls get the games after that.
Give it time. The bowls have been losing their luster for decades. The playoffs will be the dagger. The schools/conferences run the show and they know that. How long till the big boys get together and make demands of more home playoff games? That’ll never ever fly. Sixteen teams with the first round on home fields but the bowls get the games after that.

I’m fine with 12 teams, but they have to look at the seeding. I’m all for rewarding conference champs, but the teams that are in the semis are teams 2-6 in the last playoff rankings.Discuss
It really isn't.Eight teams is enough.
For all the love we have across sports of the underdog and the Cinderella story, there’s nobody more hated in college football than a non-blue blood trying to raise profile. 12 or more team playoffs over time will allow for changes in recruiting patterns and will lead to more parity in the sport. I thought this was a huge win this season. There were easily 20-25 teams in real discussion at various points about being in the playoffs. It really isn't.
I tried to post a pic of Dick Van Pelt and family, but I failed (see Absolut Vodka thread for reason of failure)Eight teams is enough.

16 teams 5 years ago would have saved the PAC-12 conference because all conference champions get an automatic bid and there are enough at large bids to be given to any other team that needs to be there as well. For all the love we have across sports of the underdog and the Cinderella story, there’s nobody more hated in college football than a non-blue blood trying to raise profile. 12 or more team playoffs over time will allow for changes in recruiting patterns and will lead to more parity in the sport. Here’s my full proposal, staying at 12 teams. I’m fine with the selection criteria. P4 champs should always get in. I like the best non-P4. ND needs a path (but let’s join a freaking conference please). Let that be qualifying criteria. Then seed by the committee or committee plus something. First two rounds played on campus. Eliminate conference championship games, potentially, to start earlier.
Bowls were far more entertaining games than CFP games were except for 1.Give it time. The bowls have been losing their luster for decades. The playoffs will be the dagger. 32 teams. All champs of every conference. Then at larges, and then the 32nd slot goes to the team with the worst record in the country.
I’m fine with 16 teams, too. Maybe not having a bye is actually best. I still think the first two rounds should be on campus. It’s a LOT to ask fans to travel that much after asking them to make donations for seats and asking them to pay fund collectives for NIL and to subscribe to 17 streaming services.16 teams 5 years ago would have saved the PAC-12 conference because all conference champions get an automatic bid and there are enough at large bids to be given to any other team that needs to be there as well.
Now, you need to go to 16 because the top 4 seeds really got screwed by not getting to host a game. Honestly, the first round was great and they need more on campus playoff games. But that's unlikely to happen but at least you can get more 1st round games. So most of them will always be blowouts. BFD. At least the games are settled on the field and not in the television studios.
lol, ok torbs.Bowls were far more entertaining games than CFP games were except for 1.
By a fair margin, too.

No, it would be played at halftime of the superbowlYou'd have to start the playoffs in late October.
It bothers me that the final CFP rankings are not the seeds too. If they are that off, of what use were the rankings in the first place?
If you’re telling me didn’t love watching Boise state’s nose get rubbed in it’s poop it’s like I don’t even know you anymore.Bowls were far more entertaining games than CFP games were except for 1.

Pretend the winner is also done for the year.Bowls were far more entertaining games than CFP games were except for 1.

Yep. Let's stop the cognitive dissonance of amateur college sports. That ended with the portal and NIL a couple of years ago. I don't like it, but will admit I'm a kinda olde and will learn to embrace it.I’m fine with 16 teams, too. Maybe not having a bye is actually best. G5s really should have their own playoffs. The problem is there are too many teams in Division 1A (or whatever they're calling it now days) as it is.
The majority of them were objectively more compelling contests - more evenly matched, closer scores. 🤷♂️lol, ok torbs.
Well if you and many others knew, then it shall be. Take note everyone, SolarHawk told you so.It’s gonna be 16 teams guys, just accept it. When it was 4 me and many others knew it would expand to 8 or more. Now we have 12, 16 will be next.
