Gabe Dean folks. My goodness is this guy disrespected. Bo Nickal and the rest of the would be challengers should have pee dripping down their legs.
Right? Dude made a statement today. Guy may not be the biggest point scorer but he is just so solid everywhere. Even a 5-2 win can be dominating.
I just get annoyed with people saying he only wins because he's strong. He is as good of an athlete as there is at this weight. He's a Michigan high school football legend for a reason.
Exactly, you don't beat Ed Ruth by just being really strong.
Multiple time 1st team all state quarterback that led his team to 3 state championship games. They still talked about him on the radio on regular occasion after he graduated when I lived there.
Not related to the all star classic but Taylor Lamont is going to be a good one for UVU handled trey Andrews and now he's destroying the starter in the cowboy open finals

Dean is awesome. That said, Myles Martin is overrated coming into this season, IMO.
Yea, I remember watching an interview with him about his first love being football but only getting an offer from Central Michigan if I remember correctly. With that, he said he chose wrestling...could be wrong but I remember something close to that.

Nickal owned him twice and then got caught on a missed throw in the finals. So, yes he is overrated.
Hard to call him overrated when he made the NCAA finals (and won, regardless of Bo's mistake) as a true freshman don't you think? Kids one heck of a wrestler...granted Dean is a beast but...Myles is elite...gotta give him credit.
Nickal lives and dies on upper body stuff at times - Martin isn't over rated for wising up. He got the win. Dean is probably under rated.
Owned him? As far as I remember the only time Nickal "owned" him was at big tens he beat him 3-2 at the NLO and was losing in the dual before Martin attempted a very stupid headlock that Nickal capitalized on. Martin also had the 1st TD in the NCAA finals before Nickal tried that throw. I'm in agreeance with your fellow psu fan on bwi. Nickal may be better but that gap isn't wide at all and it's proven

Can someone explain to me how Nickal got 'caught on his back in his own throw' in the NCAA finals? Go to 5:15 is when the sequence starts. Nickal has an underhook and Martin has a over-under bodylock, Nickal goes for underhook far ankle pick, gets it but Martin still has lock and throws him through for 6. Martins move, off of Nickals move, but not Nickals throw. Thats how i see it. Nickal is a great wrestler but not giving Martin his due credit in that finals match.
I'm in the camp that Martin is overrated. Bold prediction: Myles Martin never makes a NCAA finals again.
Weak weight last year. His side of the bracket cleared out and the road to the finals wasn't all that challenging. Had a punchers chance in the finals against a guy he had seen a couple of times that year and made it happen. Good for him. I think he will make a finals again, just not this year. 84 clears out big time next year.

I suppose the proof will be in the pudding. I believe Nickal beats MyMar repeatedly this year again. We shall see.
I would pick Bo Nickal in a match over Martin if they wrestled tomorrow, and don't think it's out of the realm of possibilities for Nickal to win a title this year. That being said, Nickal had an extra year in a college room, and 2 of their 3 matches were very close previously. No guarantee that Bo continues to be a better wrestler than Martin going forward. This is the perspective of a rational neutral fan
That's fair enough. There are no guarantees in anything. That said, I think at 184 Dean is in first, then a little gap to Bo, then a larger gap to Martin.
