--Alternate Uniforms Released--

Not a fan. What is it with grey right now? Is it a requirement that all alt uni’s incorporate grey? Kinda being serious. Is it a campaign thing for certain shoe companies?

Look at all the truck and SUV interiors, grey and black, been that way for all while, then accent with tans and silver, and you’ve got a fabulous once a year uni. Hope the players are excited and feel faster and tougher!

Love it.

Between the cool Hawkeye videos and MUCH better alternate uniforms, the marketing team or who ever designs this stuff is doing much better the last couple of years.

(Bar was set pretty low on the alternate uniforms)

I like our regular home uniforms...but I'm not playing on Saturday - let the kids have some fun.

They've got nothing on these...

Blair pretty much proved in this thread these recruits do care about this stuff. I think we nailed the look and can't wait to beat OSU with these as the highlights.

Insta-recipe for hyping up 20 year olds: 1.) generic rap beats and 2.) alternate unis w/ gray accents.

Maybe too one day the stars and stripes Tigerhawk (see Michigan game last year) and AC/DC will fall away into obscurity...

In the entire historical universe of alternate uniforms, these are pretty darn good. But in the short and relatively pedestrian history of IOWA's alternative uniforms, these are comparatively spectacular.

While Ol' Doodle admits to being a purist when it comes to Hawkeye Football's appearance...at least we finally have something that looks like what your mind's eye sees when you hear the phrase "alternate uniform".

PR department blew this. Should have said nothing. Come out in warm ups with something plain or their current uni's.
Go in and change and let the video board show them coming down the tunnel with these on. Place would have went ape shit crazy.

Even being an ISU fan I have to say those look awesome. I love most alternate uniforms and those are sick as hell.

versus a 2 page thread on NFL day and a week worth of talk beforehand?

I don't get it, but then I've got underwear older than these kids so it figures I guess. Kids clearly like them, and in fairness they probably beat Minnesota in 2015 because of those Alternate Uniforms. So I'm all for it, especially if helps the team not get taken to the woodshed by OSU.

Favorite jerseys not the standard home jerseys. But I need a change once or twice a year. Holy shit does this provide it or what. Love these.

Nicely done.

I think gold would've looked better than gray, but I don't hate this.

Not a huge fan of the helmet, but it's pretty cool. I like the outlined Tiger Hawk, but I'd rather see it on both sides. The way they did the ANF logo is PERFECT. Should be like this on our normal helmet, permanently.

Let's keep them. I never like the yellow pants. They look like we are pissing ourselves.

The grey and the gold are perfect on black. The block "I" is badass. At first I thought it was a brick pattern, like the bricks at Kinnick , which would also be badass.

Either way, the folks at Nike and the U of I nailed these. Let's hope the Hawks play as good as they look.

I'm not sure why everyone mocks these. I guess a lot of people didn't pay attention to the press at the time. These weren't "alternate" uniforms in the modern sense. They were tribute uniforms paying homage to the 1942-1944 US Navy Pre-Flight team that played at Kinnick Stadium and utilized U of Iowa facilities.

Very nice! I hope we can beat o$u in these! Iowa should wear alts between 2 & 4 Times a year just for a boost in big games! Still love the classics too but alts every now again provide spark

Old AF here but whatever floats (as opposed to rows) your boat. But do they look a little Northwestern-ish to anyone else?

- grey is not a school color
- the numbers with the little notches in them look stupid
- the 'oversize logo on one side of the helmet with player number on the other side' has been done to death
- at least with KF, they'll go away for good after this game
- still waiting for Alabama's alternate uniforms

Ohio State had Alt Uniforms just 2 days ago...... So the elite programs also do Alt uniforms.

These are badass as hell. Love them a lot. Only thing better would be a night game wearing these. I guess 2:30 if it's not cloudy is good though. Really glad it's not 11... now as far as the game is concerned... jk

Thankfully it appears you are in the vast minority. These are sweet.

That game, and season, were low points in the KF era. Those terrible uniforms were the cherry on top.

1) Neither is white officially. We have two primary colors, black and gold (color ID: PMS 116 C). All others are secondary colors. Deal with it.
2) Probably the only weak spot of the uniforms, but not bad at all.
3) Helmet design is great.
4) Says who?
5) We're not Bama. Good job of picking maybe the only school around who probably won't do an alternate uniform. Pretty much every other school, including most of the bluebloods do them.

Relax, they are not replacing the uniforms you'll see 92% of the season.

Great job on these by those in charge. Light years ahead of where the alternates were just a few years ago. These look great.

I actually agree with not having yellow pants or at least switching it up every once and a while. I love our classic look but wouldn't mind switching it up a bit. We have 7 home games. I would like to see our classic look with yellow pants in 4 of those. Keep classic look and simply use black pants instead of yellow and then 1 alt uni game. Of our 5 away games I would like 2 games with our classic look, 2 games that is white on white with pants, and one game with black pants.
