Seriously - players played a nearly perfect game vs OSU.

I recall ONE dropped pass the entire game. Stanley was spot on and crisp with most of his passes - hit open deep routes for long gains and TDs.

OL did a fantastic job creating nice pockets for him and giving him time to throw.

Running game got just enough on rush downs to keep OSU honest.

TEs caught passes all game long like flypaper.

Jackson was like flypaper with his INTs

DL and LBs completely contained and neutralized Barrett's run-option game and we made them one-dimensional nearly the whole game.

OSU dropped more passes on catchable balls than Iowa did.

Entire team was simply en fuego most of the game, playing disciplined and error-free ball.

I think the OL and the DBs really made the difference for us in that beatdown. HOLY SHITE? 50-spot on OSU???? That SIMPLY NEVER HAPPENS.

And BF had some marvelous play calls in that game, too. The fake FG was straight outta Belichek's book....

BF had a completely different game plan than he has ever called before. Passing on first downs was the most notable thing to me. Maybe he figured being an 18 point dog that he had nothing to lose or maybe he finally talked the old man into agreeing that 2 runs and a pass does not cut it anymore. I agree it was the best offensive performance we have seen in years!

We did that in the other games.
Only vs OSU, our receivers CAUGHT them.

I'd love to see the actual numbers about passing on first down.... seems to be a big deal. I really don't think the playcalling was that significant - everything worked

We were able to run the ball and help Stanley get into a rhythm. The game has always looked to fast for him (even when he makes good throws) but it slowed down tonight.

We started that way in other games then went into a shell. This was the 1st game BF called in which you were literally in suspense what play Iowa would be running on 1st Down the entire game.

But yes, player execution makes a world of difference.

It was too fast for him, when the green OL kept missing assignments and he wasn't able to check down on receivers before being under pressure.

OL did a fantastic job blocking AND run blocking; the athletes are there, it was just the reps to counter all the stunts and schemes defenses throw at them.

If we hadn't lost 2 veterans off the line earlier in the year, we'd probably have beaten both MSU and NW.

Yes... I was actually excited to see what our offense would do next.... Edge of my seat excited. A game for the ages. Rinse and repeat this week at Becky!

You HAVE to go into that shell when you cannot connect on a pass, and the OL cannot give the QB more than 2-3 seconds to throw.

We had WAY more drops in those earlier games than tonight. On easy passes. WRs made great adjustments on off-target passes today, which made a world of difference.

Pass blocking hasn't been nearly as problematic this season. Plus, if you looked at the numbers prior to Ohio State, Stanley statistically was in the Top 5 of the B1G.

I agree very much with your points on execution, but disagree Iowa was ever forced to go into a shell. Establishing the run has always been a staple of Kirk Ferentz's offensive philosophy, and was certainly evidenced in all of their games leading up to Ohio State. Today, for whatever reason(s), he and Brian followed a much different script.

The young OLine came into its own today. Nate Stanley was unleashed and he delivered. Tight End University re-emergered. Passing game prevented OSU from stacking against the run. BFz/KOK called a great game. Defense wasnt on the field all game.

Hello America...my name is Josh Jackson.

Everyone on the offense played well today. The difference, other than execution, appeared to be the use of deeper routes to the TEs, both of whom can get by linebackers and throwing it from anywhere.

If the line plays like today Iowa has a chance at Wiscy and will overpower Purdue and the Bug Eaters.

Another difference is that for some unknown reason OSU decided to rarely blitz today, even though Iowa has struggled with that all year. Wiscy is going to blitz often.

The defense benefitted from a solid TOP by the offense. The o line had by far their best game of the season. Running backs had holes to run through. Nate had a bit more time and cleaner pockets.

Most important WE BUTT STOMPED OSU.

I agree with this. We were more unpredictable today but of course execution helps (obviously). Stanley really impressed me today. Maybe he's growing too but that completion where the defender had a hold of his legs was ridiculous. He looked more confident on his downfield passes too. The entire offense played on another level today.

I couldn't believe how excited I was for Iowa to get the ball back on offense, because I was unsure of what fun, exciting play was next.

There were a few balls thrown behind the TE or receiver and guess what? They were caught. Amazing job of executing by all.
