If there weren't so many lazy people that abuse WFH more companies wouldn't have to force people to come into the office. The amount of people I had to fire during our short WFH period was just dumb. Do your job and don't ruin it for everyone else.
Hope not hehe.Is biotech considered an "office job"?
Lots of commercial estate that's vacant, at least in Iowa. For my company, that's a benefit since we can't work from home. Landlords are desperate. As I said earlier, I'm working from Ohio this week. But no one on my team goes into the office more than once or twice a week. And that is usually related to managing equipment. Two of my SoCal team actually work in different states, one in NY and another in WA. The third person in that group hasn't been into the office in a few years. That will probably change as the person that did go in on occasion has moved to AUS and we couldn't figure out her visa situation. The two of us in NorCal are in maybe once a week. Do people 'take advantage' of the situation? I don't know. I do know that all the work gets done on time and in budget, so I don't give a shit. Our company's push to return is because we're paying for a lot of space and the management group wants to see it used. But most people still are only in 2-3 days a week.
They burn through a lot of corporate staff. Especially in the P. NWCorrect. They aren't widely know to burn through employees, blue or white collar.
Technologists need to be in the office. This is a good move by Amazon and it will help downtown Seattle's businesses.Well, it was fun while it lasted? What was your favorite 'it doesn't matter where work gets done as long as it gets done' moment?
There's a clear common denominator among the things you listed that does not apply to work. Why do we do anything in person? Why go to a restaurant or bar when we can eat and drink at home? Why go to a concert or a sporting event? Why go out shopping when you can buy pretty much anything online?
Hope not hehe.
I like leaving my house quite frankly.
What's that? There's a clear common denominator among the things you listed that does not apply to work.
I would tell him to major in Biochemistry. It's a good major for an undergrad, either to get thru graduate school and then academia or industry or medical school. Best of luck to your son!Serious question for you. My son will be heading off to college next year and is very interested in Biology, chemistry biotech type of career. Any advice on what he should study or degrees to pursue?
