I just finished this book written by Daniel Stashower, and it's a pretty good read. In the 1930s Cleveland was gripped by a string of dismemberment murders. Bodies started popping up with the heads and limbs cut up, the torso cut from the lower body, and the limbs cut up at each joint. The murders occurred around the 50th anniversary of the JTR killings, and the media at the time played up that angle. The secondary part of the tale is that after J. Edgar Hoover forced Ness out from being a federal agent, he wound up in Cleveland as the Public Safety Commissioner, and the case vexed him for years even as he tried to apply modern crime fighting techniques. There is a good bit of history about Cleveland, and it's mob controlled past, too.
If you like a true crime book, mixed in with some history this might be something you'd like.
Spoiler alert, I did not know that Ness died relatively young, and penniless. Despite making his name as a prohibition agent, he liked his booze, and was a womanizer. Kevin Costner didn't tell us that in The Untouchables.
