‘Was defense really the issue when you hold a team to under 65 points in regulation, under 35% shooting, and dominate on the boards? Shooting 20% from 3 and 50% from the FT line sure made it tough for OSU to win.
I watched the game...and IMHO the better team won. OSU looked sloppy...and mentally out of it. Turnovers and missed free throws will snooker any team in the tourny.

My 7 year old picked Florida to the final four so he thinks he’s pretty smart right now. He also picked Iowa to beat San Diego state in the final because he went to the holiday bowl and liked the city of San Diego.
Don’t you know ISU is 2x NCAA champs? Next year and the year after.

This. I wondered all season why people knocked Iowa's defense and somehow didn't notice OSU was giving up over 80 or even 90 in games they lost. And it wasn't like they were clamping down on D when they won.
Major difference between Iowa and Osu? Iowa dialed into D the last 10 games in the B10 while OSU didn't. They also had no one over 6'8 on their roster and I always thought that would limit how far they could go. I definitely did not see a first-round choke job, though. That's priceless!!! 😂

I think you’re off by a factor of decades. People are still salty about 1970 Jacksonville State and 1987 UNLV. How do you think they’d feel if a similarly credentialed team went down in the first round to a for profit with mostly online students college that has been playing D1 for less than a decade?
The Spalding TF999 is a VASTLY superior ball to the TF1000. Hell even the TF998 is better.
Wasn't that what happened to Iowa under Alford? Choke job in the first round as a 3 seed and went down to a directional school that didn't even include the name of their state? That was the beginning of the end for Alford.
I believe once. When Duke lost to Lehigh and Mizzou lost to Norfolk. I think that was the same year.
If I remember correctly, they blew 17 point leads in BOTH halves of that game.

Yup. Humiliating. Yes, the 86-87 squad blew a 19 point halftime lead against UNLV, but at least that was a 1 seed in the Elite Eight. First round blowing two 17 point leads in each half to a #14 seed? That was the biggest choke by Iowa in my lifetime.
Washington was the least clutch guy I can remember seeing. I feel bad for him, but he lost the game.
