UI administration has never really wanted a winner. Just a “nice” program similar to a 1950’s high school team. A place for families to gather, but winning is secondary.

This is where I’m at too. As I’ve said many times before, Fran should have been fired after the 2017-18 season.

After watching Fran’s 6’5 no-talent son start at the 4 last season over a future lottery pick, that should have been clear evidence to everyone Fran has no serious interest in ever producing a legitimate top ten team. In fact, you could go even further back than that, after Iowa ended the regular season with a loss at putrid Nebraska to finish 10-10 in the B1G Ten, and Fran stated, “In our league, that’s tremendous.” I mean, JFC. If any head basketball coach actually believes finishing .500 is “tremendous,” then they clearly don’t take winning too seriously.

What upsets me is the rinse and repeat year after year futility! 10 losses per season?? Every year half of our scholarship players are not Big Ten caliber players…every year! If I became coach tomorrow, I could upgrade every position for next year by going aggressive in the portal. Do you see ANY of our players starting for Richmond bedsides Keegan?!? Without Keegan, there’s maybe one or two Big Ten caliber players on the roster. This team would struggle in the MAC. Not worth the price of parking, much less the ticket!

Iowa finished tied for fourth during league play and won the B10 Tournament and you say they have MAC caliber players. That must mean you think Fran did a terrific coaching job this year. Yesterday sucked. There is no way to sugar coat it, but the overreactions on this board are laughable.

I think this years team was a pretty solid team and capable of great things this tourney (I would have played Bohannon less than 30 minutes a game but that does not matter now)
