Direct link to the memo, I encourage everyone to read in it's entirety.

On February 5, a group of anonymous researchers published a memo that reads like a techno-political thriller—except every word is real. The document, "Capture of U.S. Critical Infrastructure by Neoreactionaries," details how Elon Musk—the wealthiest person alive and a man who once declared, "Government is the ultimate corporation"—has orchestrated a stunning takeover of federal power.

From the memo:
We are now witnessing a systematic effort to consolidate control over U.S. government communication infrastructure and digital platforms—not by the Trump administration, but by a single network of ideologically driven actors, with Elon Musk at its center. What began as an effort to streamline bureaucracy has morphed into a private power grab, with Musk capturing critical infrastructure to operate beyond traditional oversight. This mirrors an authoritarian model—not merely reducing government, but reconfiguring it into a privatized regime where Musk dictates the flow of information, controls political narratives, and wields unchecked influence over the machinery of the state. If this continues unchecked, President Trump will no longer be steering government policy—Musk will.

Here are some key takeaways:

  1. Elon Musk has gained unprecedented control over federal infrastructure through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), not by dismantling bureaucracy but by replacing it with his own network of private control.
  2. Musk-aligned operatives have seized control of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), purging career civil servants and gaining access to sensitive employee records, including Social Security numbers and security clearances.
  3. DOGE has deployed unvetted young hires (many under age 25) who now control sensitive government functions without proper security clearances, including individuals drawn from Musk's companies and Silicon Valley's neoreactionary (NRx) network.
  4. DOGE has gained direct read-write access to Treasury payment systems, which process over $6 trillion annually in transactions including Social Security payments, military salaries, and federal grants.
  5. The forced resignation of career Treasury official David Lebryk highlights how Musk's allies can now make undetected changes to federal financial systems without formal authorization.
  6. The congressionally mandated TikTok divestment has been delayed, with Chinese officials privately discussing Musk as a potential buyer—which would give him control over both X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok, the largest platforms shaping political discourse.
  7. Musk's actions align with the neoreactionary (NRx) movement's goals of replacing democracy with corporate-style rule under a "CEO Monarch," as advocated by influential figures like Curtis Yarvin, Peter Thiel's "house philosopher."
  8. Many DOGE recruits come from Musk's network of companies and programs like the Thiel Fellowship, suggesting a coordinated effort to place ideologically aligned young people in positions of government power.
  9. Musk's involvement creates significant conflicts of interest. He maintains control of companies (SpaceX, Tesla, X, xAI), some of which have major government contracts, while simultaneously influencing federal policy and infrastructure.
  10. The memo warns that President Trump himself may now be hostage to Musk's demands, as this consolidation of power shifts control over critical U.S. infrastructure away from accountable governance and into the hands of a single private actor.

One of those things, that even if not true, would be a useful piece of propaganda potentially. It's not like MAGA isn't swimming in it. (since that's the way the game is played anymore)

There is enough dark enlightenment stuff out there and enough video of them talking about it that it would certainly be worth hammering them on. As a bonus it already has an ominous name so the Democrats can't mess that up per usual.

Yeah, I really think an organic backlash on the left is probably going to be channeled through resentment of corporate/elite power. (And I think it has to be organic at this point, not coming from Dems)

Yes. I’ve posted on here many times, but every single time in world history that the wealth gap grew as large as it currently is in the United States, the poor people rose up and killed all the rich people and took their stuff.

I honestly don’t think there’s a whole lot that can stop it from happening at this point.

Counterpoint is that the standard of living for an average poor person in the United States is spectacular compared to the standard of living in the those historical situations. That is, while the wealth ceiling is incredible, the floor is very high. Not saying there shouldn’t be and won’t be any change, however.

I think that is why this one is more delayed. But with the way the economy and support is about to crash super hard, I think we’ll be there very soon.

Just the loss of Medicare is going to drastically drop the standard, let alone the rampant unemployment, inflation, and all the other stuff Trump is doing.

I guess I am perhaps foolishly optimistic that at the end of the day things like Medicare are too big to fail or simply end.

The thing that worries me is if you turn the clock back to 1890ish stuff was atrocious for anyone that wasn't in the wealth class and the wealth class for the most part was okay with the exploitation and death that surrounded their wealth. I don't think the turn back to that is necessarily something that is out of reach, but it obviously wouldn't look exactly the same. Some of these oligarchs want people poor and uneducated because they become easy to take advantage of, Elon is one of those people.

Just in some of my pondering I have been considering some of the moves going on recently to be in opposition to financial stability for wage earners. I believe there is a certain point where the uber wealthy can turn in some of their wealth for even more power. I don't think we can make the assumption that some of these people with insane wealth are just looking for more wealth. It would be safer to assume the next step is power and property.

Historically this has all played out a ton of times. The US really had a short period of prosperity for the middle class that spans basically the time of the New Deal era and to a lesser and diminishing way into the stock holder supremacy era. As income inequality continues to grow, desperation grows with it, and desperation is a catalyst for exploitation and dehumanization.

I hope I am wrong.

Even worse is how immensely stupid Elon is. This is one of the biggest reasons why we’re all fvcked.
Yes, he's stupid....dumb, dumb, dumb........ You should be sentenced to spending the rest of your life writing, "Elon Musk is stupid," on a blackboard in your mom's basement! 🤡 🤡 🤡🤡🤡🤣

Also Americans are unbelievably lazy. Getting up and rioting takes a lot of work. :).

The intent here is to have 1.5 yrs to plan out sabotaging the 2026 elections and 3.5 yrs to sabotage the 2028 elections.

If Congress and Democrats don't get off their asses and start pushing back hard (and removing some of these idiots from government positions) it will be too late for our democracy.

Let's say Trump and Doge do the slow burn on Medicare by cutting staff, cutting access to care and payments. You have to have surgery and you owe $100,000 (an amount that is avg for some regular types of surgeries) but your Medicare reimbursement is held up for months and months, then does the hospital and doctors come after you for payment? Are you sued? Then you go WTF how did this happen?

Or you start missing a soc security check once in awhile which will be bad news for many?

I just think Medicare and social security are the two sacred cows. if I am wrong the FAFO for lots of Trump voters will be epic, and their collateral damage to non-Trump voters will be tragic.

Medicare? I haven’t seen anything on this as I’ve seen the opposite for Medicare. Do you have a link to this?

Medicaid is a different story.

I think with your pondering in the second paragraph you will like this Pod from Ezra Klein and Chris Hayes. It talks about the Attention economy and how it’s being used. It’s an hour ish long and worth it.

Yeah the Fox News dads would revolt after that I come stream drops off and they find out their solid fake gold Trump coins are worth $1.50

I know you are and maybe I quoted the wrong post. But I agree with you on the Medicare and SSI issue but I have not seen news on cuts other then fear porn.

The House budget proposal(a GOP document) calls for a reduction in mandatory spending over the next ten years. That's not fear porn.

When Elon Musk owns and uses the largest propaganda machine on the planet to disinform people, how do you propose that Democrats counter that?

There are billions of dollars from billionaires working in lockstep on this to sway your Representatives; not really a lot that Dems can do here, until things completely fall apart and the info bubble these people are in bursts. The open question is whether that occurs before or after our democracy is dissolved here.

I’ve read it and has nothing in terms of cutting Medicare or Social security but it does talk about cutting Medicaid and making that a big issue to dangle.

Here is what it their policy statement section 406 says:

Page 4 it states strengthening Medicare:

Page 26 talks about creating a bipartisan commission to figure it out:

Again there is nothing about Medicare or SSI. The cuts in mandatory spending over 10 years can come in a lot of different ways but it has nothing to do with these 2 from what they are currently saying.

Well for one, don’t hitch your wagon to the dying legacy media. No one under the age of 40 gets their info from there anymore. After the election I have seen a push from the legacy media to push towards this medium of twitter and podcasts. Not sure how it will go or who will rise to the top from that but they are trying anyway. Regarding the billionaires, there were plenty of them in lockstep with the left until recently. I have my opinions on what caused this shift but Not sure on what happened to cause this shift.

Also there are plenty of things the Dems can do but during the past month they have been playing their greatest hits and it just doesn’t work anymore in today’s attention and info age. Nationally they are a hurting unit but locally and through state politics they are still a strong political force. I think nationally they are hurting from the fact of mixing Midwest moderate Dems with San Fran Dems and bowing to the far more progressive causes over there has hit the party nationally. Just look at the swing states for the presidency.

What would all fix this tho is to get rid of Citizens United. Give power back to the people.

I’m not sure you’ve driven through any real poor areas in the US. You’re right, they aren’t living in caves, but they’re living in shacks and shit hole areas with next to nothing.
