Carson has no political experience. To this concern he has a fun reply. He claims that “Every signer of the Declaration of Independence had no elected office experience.” Isn't that remarkable? Did you know that?

I hope not, as its not even close to true. Nearly all the founding fathers were professional politicians with years of experience and were serving in the Continental Congress when they signed the DoI. Its part of the reason we won. So where did this idea come from? Ben just made it up. For all of you concerned about Hillary being honest, how are you going to square this? Ben is crazy and can't be trusted with the truth.

The first Continental Congress was formed in 1774. This thread fails.

I know what you're getting at, they were involved in the politics of each of their respective colonies, but the Continental Congress part doesn't refute what he said.

Because? They were delegates serving in an office they were elected to by their colonial assemblies. They were serving before the DoI was signed.

Sorry. Lame criticism. There are much better nits to pick on the "DBC is crazy" front.

Ben Carson is a true american hero.

The nominee is going to be Rubio, Bush or Kasich.

At least you're honest about it. Most would have said the Dems were scared of Carson, that's why they bring him up.

It's going to be Hillary for the Dems. Hillary destroys Rubio or Kasich in the election. Debates will be TOUGH for Rubio. She'll eat him alive. Kasich just doesn't have "it" although he's the GOP's best candidate (IMO). Bush would be a decent opponent for Hillary because he's apart of the same establishment, but he's far too much of a pussy and his brother really left him a slim chance.

I don't think Hillary does that to guys.

Kasich has "it", you don't win Ohio as a Republican if you don't. If he can start to get some traction in the next month or so he'll be formidable. I really hope he does.

Kasich said the right words, but he simply looks terrible on TV. He has this nervous tick like he's chewing on a package of sunflower seeds while listening to the moderator's questions.

Apparently Carson's handlers figure any publicity is good publicity. I don't know about that. Within the Party... It looks like Trump is the only one willing to take shots at him. Rubio and Cruz sure haven't yet. Jeb's got bigger problems right now than worrying about him.
I guess he gets a pass for a little while. If it ever gets to that point... the Dems are going to have a mountain of stuff to use.

Carson tells deliberate falsehoods, but he gets away with it because he is just so earnest. Plus, people want to blindly believe in him. He's the anti-Trump that the Christian conservatives are turning to.

The problem with telling all these "lies" is that somewhere down the road, he's going to have to remember what he said about certain subjects. With some of the outlandish statements he's made so far I'm not sure it's possible to recall all the weird shit he's spewing.
Pretty soon we're going to hear how "God" is calling him to guide him.

Carson is in the middle of a book tour. Publicity is the name of the game. He is making dollars.

Like what hill told her family vs what she told the public? Should be okay in the dems book then.

Let's give Ben credit here. He is not a liar. He is just wrong about most things. But since he believes them, he isnt a liar.

I'm not sure if you can carry this as great experience going forward. . . but I think it is worthwhile to point out that the signers lack of experience and doing what they did verses running the US the way it is now.

1. When the Declaration of Independence was signed the US was just a bunch of backwater colonies that didn't make much noise on the international scene. After the US was formed and indeed well after all the FF had died the US was just a backwater nation that didn't make much noise on the international scene. The biggest thing we did was take down some annoying pirates on the northern coast of Africa. The US didn't have a lot of money nor was it politically or militarily powerful. The US was about as powerful as maybe Chile. Anyone know or care without looking it up who the head of government is in Chile??

2. The responsibilities where more divided up then now. The person with the most responsibility was Washington was was basically twice C&C of the armed forces of the US. (Both during the revolution and when he became president). And commanding troops is something he did have experience at during the French and Indian War, so he was entirely qualified and experienced for what he was doing because that was his main job. The armed forces of the US where also small and not very powerful. The federal government was very small and didn't have a lot of money. The old saying goes. . . more money, more power, more problems. . . Modern presidents have to deal with a vast array of different issues and problems that couldn't have even been imagined by Washington. To him his job was to sit in the executive mansion, sign a few bills, and if necessary call out the army (80% of which was poorly trained militias) and lead them into battle. Early presidents had like 1 guy working for directly for them and a handful in different executive departments.

So to me saying "well the founders didn't have any experience either." is a poor defense. It would be like a scientist today in 2015 being entirely computer illiterate and when someone points out that maybe his computer illiteracy is harming his career defending it with "Yeah well Einstein never learned to use computers!"

Okay, I'll bite. Tell me how making fun of Ben Carson's crazy views is racist? Or are you just being an a**hole?

He's riffing off the fact that anybody who criticized Obama for the past eight years was summarily dismissed as a racist.

Clarence Thomas, Condoleezza Rice, Ben Carson, Herman Cain, etc. The treatment is always the same.

we would have to have the first "ben carson is crazy" example- in order for there to be another one.

I doubt this actually fits that mold. I bet he just made up this gem because he thought it sounded clever. Because there isn't any logical or popular notion that the FF were inexperienced armatures.
