Another season preview

It hits the obvious things that we can all see. The offense is excellent with the best post man in the country on that end. The defense nearly the exact opposite. Without some significant defensive improvement, it's understandable that there will be skepticism about Iowa winning the B1G and making the FF.

They seem to downplay Nunge's worth to the team, which seems odd seeing as how he started some games before his injury last season.
He was OK, hardly spectacular.
I'm honestly not sure what he will bring and I can see an outside observer writing about this squad to not have much to say about him other than he is a question mark.

He was good enough to split minutes with Kreiner and Pemsl when healthy. I can see Nunge being the better overall with his 3pt shot.

Actually, not sure who the writer is, however I definitely think Tom/Blair know the
Hawkeye team a LOT better.

Barely mentions Joe Wieskamp, despite Joe W being an All Big Ten level player.

His overall summary is decent, I guess. Iowa in Top 3 of Big10 seems about right.

Defense ! Defense ! Defense! Or, just score more than your opponents.
I'm okay with either, really.

GO HAWKS

It was kind of a thud because it was 100% spot on. Same as last year, if they can play decent to good defense, they are going to be scary good and have a shot at a National Title. If they play defense like they did late in the season last year, or the year before, or the year before...they'll make the tourney, maybe get out of the 1st weekend, then get beat in the S16.

Everything hinges on the defensive end.

Last years team had very little bench and it showed in road games against Purdue, Michigan St, Indiana and Maryland, plus Purdue had numbers that Iowa just could not match. This years team is much more equipped to withstand injuries or covid downtime. This years team would run rings around last years 2nd have team because of depth, experience, skill, and leadership. If Fran doesn't over coach this team, they have the ability to be the best Iowa team ever!

We lost @Michigan St. and @Illinois down the stretch, both close games to teams that finished above us. The ugly loss to Purdue at home on Senior night against a team we should have been gunning for was the outlier and was perhaps (outside of the Nebraska debacle) the most disappointing contest of the year.

Nunge has something to prove. I think he's better than he started the season when he was a starter, but he has to earn his accolades.
