you can’t always get what you want!
Two actually….
1) since “election day” why have gas pump prices fallen of the ledge? In DSM prices have fallen as much as .45/ gallon….
2) why are gas prices .40 to .50 a gallon cheaper in DSM than eastern Iowa? Heading east from DSM prices start moving up at about Newton and keep climbing as I head towards Quad Cities. Why?
This AM DSM gas was $2.45 a gallon when I left…I have seen a few I-80 stations at $2.99.. a lot more at $2.89…

1) the lower prices are being based on futures. They are probably basing it on regulations being loosened like the first time Trump was in office.

2) only guessing, that stores buy (X) amount of gallons. So if they bought them when prices were higher then they aren't able to drop them until they buy the cheaper amount. But price gouging does take place.

RBOB Gasoline is at $2.03. It was $2.05 on Election Day.

Any other change is trader, region, distributor, and station specific.

Gas near me in Marion is $2.90 today - about what it has been for a couple of months.

About 65 south of here there is a BP station in Olds, IA. Zero nearby competition. It consistently has remarkably lower gas prices than anything I have seen and the place is always packed. Today gas there is $2.44. I don't understand how they do that.

UNICEF?

Jk, maybe they are treating gas as a loss leader to get you in the door to buy the items they are price gouging on…

Just back from Florida, where gas was about $3.09/gal. Most places along the way were in the $2.57- $2.89 range. Cheapest was around StL. As noted ^^ the cheapest was near Olds, Ia at $2.42 and in Hannibal, Mo at $2.48.

We found a place in Ocala that had $2.92. Right next door gas was $3.09. The place that was $2.92 was a PITA to get to as it was on 200 with no northbound access.

Seasonal declines in demand are driving pump prices to lowest level since January. Petroleum industry watchers report U.S. gas prices continued to decline this week, reaching a median price of $2.99 per gallon.
