Anyone Else See that Clown Dosunmu Tonight?

The play at the end of the game was bush league no matter how good the player is or what you think of him. To me it’s more a reflection on the coach than the player. That said both DO know better.

Ayo got in Penn State’s Wheeler’s face and had to be pulled away when Wheeler tried to do the same thing to Illini ball handler dribbling out the clock back in Decembe.

Frazier actually started the aggressive defense against the MSU player just trying to burn the clock down, driving him to the center line corner. That's where Ayo stripped him from the opposite side, just as the camera switched to handshakes.

This is on their asshat coach, and is exactly the kind of behavior that kept the Hawks aggressively playing offense last year, instead of running clock.

They deserve being the Whining Illini. They do not know how to win or lose with appropriate sportsmanship.

It is also on the referee. When the guys get up on them at the end of the game, they need to call a foul like they would at any other point. This is what led to the altercation in the ISU came a couple years ago. Connor was trying to run out the clock, ISU were pressuring/fouling him, and the referee didn't call it. Illinois did the same to us last year so we passed it down court to Wieskamp for the dunk. Refs need to play to the end as well!

Wasn't this the same team crying and throwing a fit because Weiskamp got an outlet pass in the last 20 seconds and dunked it instead of pull it out and dribble out the clock last year. Seem to remember their assistant coach throwing a tantrum in the handshake line.

Kudos to MSU. If they would have scored or *gasp* dunked the basketball, they would have got yelled at by the Illinois assistants and told they don't know the unwritten rules of basketball. And if MSU reacted, in any way, they would have been blasted on social media.

That's exactly what he's supposed to do when his coach says no fouls and the other team is dribbling out the clock with 20 secs left and up 14. If he wanted to show heart and effort, he should of brought it the first 39 min and 40 secs. Same shit they pulled with Iowa last year and then cried about it when Weiskamp dunked on them. He's a great player, but that was BS.
ok but the difference is when weezy dunked it was the team that was ahead . illinois was behind , i dont expect them to quit playing .

Yes I don't really mind a team playing to the end. This is college sports. If you don't like what the other team is doing, stop them from doing it. So in the case last year Illinois was pressuring the ball and trying to get it. Okay then, if you are still playing then don't get mad if Iowa tries to break the pressure and dunks on you. You can't have it both ways.
excellent post

When the team with the lead is up in this case by 10+, with the shot clock no longer an issue, the accepted action is to dribble out the remaining seconds. For many reasons this is how it is done. Don't give me "the kid is a competitor" garbage. He was padding stats in what was a below average game for him. Other teams took notice guaranteed.

Your opinion on this is just that. If an Iowa player pulled something like this, I would be embarrassed by that player and upset with Fran.

Seeing how Fran’s reacted the several times this has happened to Iowa over the years, I could never see Fran’s guys doing something this bush league. If they did, I’d expect a major ass chewing from Fran behind the scenes.

Did ya hear him say Cockburn best post in the Big ? Lol
I like Bardo as an analyst because he understands basketball, he knows the league, and he knows the players pretty well. He likes to be positive about the players in the game he's calling, but if he said that, he went way too far in that direction.

Everyone has a bias...Especially if you went to school their 20 years ago.

Bardo actually went to Illinois 30+ years ago, same as me. He just responded tonight to a post of mine on youtube. I said the game yesterday reminded me of an old-school physical Big Ten game, but MSU went too far with the flagrant foul(s). He agreed that the cheap shots were unnecessary, but it's on Illinois to be ready for the physicality. That's one reason I don't so much mind a loss, to toughen up a team for the postseason. The flagrant elbows to the head on Kofi and Ayo were completely unnecessary. The Illini were not happy at the end of that game, and that's why I think they played to the final whistle. Ayo's stat-padding is apparently one rebound (to get a triple double), one steal and one layup (two points). That will have practically no impact on his season averages.

The new media darling for Big 10 and National Player of the Year, who built much of his stat line on performances like last week when his team was up by 30 yet he stayed in until the end to pad his stats with a triple, pulled an even bigger clown move tonight.

His team was getting upset big time by MSU, down 14 with 45 seconds to play. At the time, he was shooting 4-16 from the field. He takes the ball, drives for a layup unguarded because MSU simply didn’t want to foul or give up a 3.

Next, MSU gets the ball and just dribbles out the clock. With 5 seconds left and the camera zoomed in on the coaches already shaking hands, the clown steals the ball from the guy dribbling out the clock, and runs down to make another layup with no time left on the clock. 4 cheap points and a steal to pad the stats at the end of a double digit loss. 🙄

Zero respect for that guy.

Please, I doubt it was stat packing as much as a frustrating loss. OP your hate is showing alittle too much.

He hurt his PotY chance more by missing free throws and bricking three pointers than he did by playing to the buzzer. The kid was frustrated at a bad loss. At least he didn't punch someone in the face like Sissoko.

I agree with this post. Remember some of his missed free throws were after taking a flying elbow to the bridge of his nose by the MSU goon. That by far was the most outrageous moment of the night, followed by the monumentally mind-blowing bad call by the ref when the ball hit him out-of-bounds after bouncing off the knee of a MSU player. Jomboy needs to do a breakdown on that play.

p.s. Is that Jim's Journal in your avatar? Same question for Rambler Hawk.

I'll say it again, Bardo invites basketball fans to ask your hard-hitting questions, and it's practically an open door because there are so few people on his channel. He gets a lot of questions from Facebook users during his live chats but hardly any from youtube.

I have been reading your posts the last two nights and do appreciate your input and the civility in how you respond to others. Thank you!

Yes, it is Jim's Journal. I have found that you either love Jim's Journal or you hate it. Very little middle ground.

JJ is hilarious. I remember when it first came out in the '80s while I was at school and the Daily Illini carried it. People asked what is going on here? It was like there was no point to it. Jim just took a nap or something, and that was the strip of the day. Of course it was created by Scott Dikkers, who also created The Onion.

EDIT: "I didn't do anything today." LOL!

As a former player for Illinois, Stephen Bardo has a bias
against Luka Garza for Player of the Year. Ayo is going to
be an All-American this season. However, tonight for his
selfish antics at the end of the game, he belongs in the
Hall of Shame.
Also the Hall of Sham.
