Dasonte Bown reminds me just a bit of Ronnie Lester. Not saying he’s at that level yet, but I like what I see.
I’m not old enough to know (born in 1981), but I’d be good with (considering Lester’s era was the last FF).Dasonte Bown reminds me just a bit of Ronnie Lester. Not saying he’s at that level yet, but I like what I see.
I have said this, too. That burst, the elevation on his jump shot, the effortless way he moves, the way he sees the floor. He's an alpha for sure.Dasonte Bown reminds me just a bit of Ronnie Lester. Not saying he’s at that level yet, but I like what I see.
Yes, but the jets, the elevation. You don't see the similarities?Ronnie was one of the best players in the country. Long way to go.
I get the resemblance. Ronnie was super quick, hit inside, drive, and see the floor. I doubt if Dasonte has the same kind of Iowa career but he is the best looking super quick guy. Faster and quicker than Joey T but looks like a much better basketball player. A long way to go but he's looked pretty good out of the gate. One of highest ranked recruits Iowa landed in a long time and it might just payoff big time.Yes, but the jets, the elevation. You don't see the similarities?

Now that you mention it?Dasonte Bown reminds me just a bit of Ronnie Lester. Not saying he’s at that level yet, but I like what I see.
Best tackler I've seen since Joe Montanareminds me of Michael Jordan
Should be our starting Quarterback. Fire FerentzBest tackler I've seen since Joe Montana
I see similarities in a lot of players. It has been very rare for Iowa to get super quick athletic guards that play under control so I can understand why people would try and draw such a comparison, but Ronnie was an elite All American who put a pretty average team on his shoulders and drove them to a Final Four before going down with an injury. Bowen looks like he could be a very good player but he has a long long ways to go to even be considered in the same breath as Ronnie Lester.Yes, but the jets, the elevation. I didn't say he was Ronnie Lester. I said he reminds me of Lester.I see similarities in a lot of players. I said he reminds me a little bit of him, not that he is at that level, or may even get there.Ronnie was one of the best players in the country. Long way to go.
This is the same thought process used by those who say Kris Murray should have played when he was a freshman. Players get better. Nobody said Bowen is as good as Ronnie Lester right now, or maybe ever will be. Bowen has a skill set that is reminiscent of Lester. Nothing more, nothing less. I hope he gets close to that level and then everyone can bitch that he should have started from day one.I see similarities in a lot of players. Which would be the truth 😀I didn't say he was Ronnie Lester. I said he reminds me of Lester.
No. Bowen should not be starting, and yes, Kris should have started last year. He was a sophomore however, so... we sort of agree. This is the same thought process used by those who say Kris Murray should have played when he was a freshman. Players get better. Yes, in those days at the FF, they played a consolation game first and I remember the opposing coach told his squad they would be benched if they in anyway, aggravated Ronnie's injury.A knee injury? Not that high of a bar.
He has to learn Ronnie's teardrop shot before comparisons begin!Dasonte Bown reminds me just a bit of Ronnie Lester. Not saying he’s at that level yet, but I like what I see.
Ronnie would undress defenders with his spin move. Virtually unstoppable if you tried to man up as was Fred Brown.NOOOOOO!!!!! You must of never seen Ronnie play.
Not sure what you are disagreeing with? Ronnie was first team all Big Ten his Soph and Jr years, and probably also would have been his Sr year. Also, likely to be a first-team All American. I believe the injury kept Iowa from winning the Big Ten title and maybe the NCAA title his Sr year. Iowa and Louisville were the two best teams, and I won't be a total homer and say Iowa would have beaten them. Ronnie never recovered really from the knee injury. When Iowa went to the final four, Ronnie led them playing at maybe 70%. The other players on that team never seem to get credit from Iowa fans by how good they were as a team or individually. Fortunately, knee surgery has progressed light years in the four decades since. For Bowen to be as good as Ronnie Lester was at Iowa is a damn high bar. I hope he can come close.A knee injury? Not that high of a bar.
