Anyone else who can’t wait for the election to be over?

Meh. I honestly cannot think of a single thing that's it's caused as far as me living day to day. It's not that it isn't a serious subject for the country. I simply wish people wouldn't let it completely change their personality towards other people is all.

This may come as a shock to some, but some people may actually believe differently than you. You still have to go to work/wherever, you still have to go around the area you live at, you still have to actually interact with other humans.

There's not a single reason why one still can't be civil about it, even if you happen to suspect they may be (in your opinion) bat shit crazy.

What a crazy year.

2 assassination attempts on the Republican nominee, who is completely unfit for the job.

The Democratic presumptive nominee, Joe Biden, had a disastrous debate vs Trump, showed he was mentally unfit for the job, and got quickly tossed aside, leaving Kamala Harris as the last person standing on the Democratic side.

In 4 weeks it will be official. President Kamala Harris. Who da thunk?

He’ll try, but it’s a bit different than 2021 because he’s not in the WH.

Honestly I think he actually has a better chance this time around than last. He's had the last 4 years to get rid of Republicans who arn't fully committed to him and he's done it extremely well.

The only thing that was affected by him being in the WH last time was the slow walking of assistance to the capitol on Jan 6th. But Jan 6th was the last gasp effort of the coup. The rest of the coup was foiled by a lack of full commitment to Trump by a few officials. Most of them are gone.

Being civil would be a lot easier if people would stfu about politics rather than bring it up in all their daily environments. Call me crazy but I'm pretty sure it used to be taboo to talk politics at work, or in polite company.

In some ways yes, but in other ways, I've already built up sufficient defensive apathy, that I find it harder to care either way. Losing my - give a shit - when it comes to the country. Although I appreciate the folks who haven't.

I hope it’s a D landslide and MAGA goes down forever. If not, at least Trump won’t be able to run a third time.

Either way, it’ll be over!
I am eager for it to be over.

That said, I think it's a really interesting question "what becomes of MAGA" if Trump loses and "goes away". I think there's a substantial chunk of "MAGA" that is just inextricably wrapped up in the cult of personality, and most of the second-tier "MAGATES" aren't exactly the kind of person you build a new cult of personality around.

And the 'politics' used to be whether the taxes should be higher, or the government should do more to solve some problem, you know questions with principled takes from 'both sides'. Now it's whether the Deep State is controlling hurricanes or immigrants are eating pets in Ohio. Civility would be nice, but I'd settle for a more closely shared version of reality.

The Deep State isn't controlling hurricanes.

The jews are.

i don't know about polymarket...but here is nate silver's forecast

still has harris as a 55/45 favorite (as of this morning's update)...538 forecast says basically the same thing

How accurate is 538 normally? Harris wins 54 times out of 100 in their simulations of the 2024 presidential election.

You do realize that Polymarket is Nate Silver...who has completely lost all credibility since 2020???
Polymarket is a betting site.
They're reflecting bets placed.

Nate Silver's website, Silver Bulletin, shows his model currently predicting Harris to win:

Silver was correct in 2020 (538):

Nah.

I wish it lasted another year so everyone could argue about it and 0 people would convince each other. ;)
Another year would be good. Every year is another year for MAGAs to come to their senses . . . or die from the storms and diseases they think are hoaxes.

Sure, those idiots take decent people with them but as long as more of them get Darwin Awards, we might be better off.

Not serious. This cancer needs to be excised. The sooner the better. But better by the ballot.

The one thing I’m really looking forward to not seeing for 4 more years are the interviews with the drama queen undecided voters.

Silver has kinda been under the gun recently with accusations of a Trump bias. Maybe he's modified his approach?
I just finished his last book, On the Edge. He's a gambler and interested in tech, and he pals around with similar types - who tend to lean libertarian. That said, I saw nothing in his book to make me think he's even slightly pro-Trump. Just my sense, though, and my glasses are tinted blue - meaning I ten to think anyone who seems reasonable leans my way.

Can't wait for it to be over and we can all go back to being friends and sharing pics of women and fart jokes.

Thanks for the link.

"The forecast remains in the very close zone of Kamala Harris being a 55/45 favorite — in other words, basically, a toss-up."

I seem to recall that he had Hillary at 58% in 2016.

Point being, Hillary lost at 58% while Biden only scraped it out because of close (and disputed) wins in key states when he was at 89% (based on your graphic).

From that perspective, Kamala's 55% looks like a LOSS.

Keep in mind that when the election is over the lawsuits and violence will start if Harris wins.
When the election is over, Biden will no longer need to govern timidly out of fear of costing Kamala the win.

I wonder if Biden will take bold action. I sure hope so.

Sounds like a good thread of it's own.
