Anyone else who can’t wait for the election to be over?

What a crazy year.

2 assassination attempts on the Republican nominee, who is completely unfit for the job.

The Democratic presumptive nominee, Joe Biden, had a disastrous debate vs Trump, showed he was mentally unfit for the job, and got quickly tossed aside, leaving Kamala Harris as the last person standing on the Democratic side.

In 4 weeks it will be official. President Kamala Harris. Who da thunk?
Likely. A candidate who failed to garner even 4% from her own party is going to slide in the backdoor because she's the lesser of 2 evils...

Definitely want it over. That said, stupid fooking people will just find other shite to be stupid fooking people about.

Sure. But I hope the red hat brigade keeps their hats on and their signs out. I appreciate the bright shining beacon that says “I’m complete trash.”

This tired argument again???

Biden would have been the nominee in 2016 except for his son Beau's death.
So 2020 was always his nomination to lose.
There was NEVER a serious challenge to him.
Grasping at straws is a bad look for you.

I am eager for it to be over.

That said, I think it's a really interesting question "what becomes of MAGA" if Trump loses and "goes away". I think there's a substantial chunk of "MAGA" that is just inextricably wrapped up in the cult of personality, and most of the second-tier "MAGATES" aren't exactly the kind of person you build a new cult of personality around.
They aren’t going anywhere. There is too much political capital behind the movement. And, if he loses, Trump isn’t giving up leadership. The real question is what happens when he dies or goes to prison. The one reason there might be less violence by Trump supporters this time is there are so many lined up to take over. Vance will pitch lies, but there might not be as many enablers in Congress or governors whole heartedly supporting a coup this time.

He’s still pissing and moaning about calls from a baseball game 40 years ago.

Maybe, but I have a sneaking suspicion it might not be that simple.

When the election is over, Biden will no longer need to govern timidly out of fear of costing Kamala the win.

I wonder if Biden will take bold action. I sure hope so.

Sounds like a good thread of it's own.
Tell me you want authoritarianism without telling me you want authoritarianism.
