Frist Gordon and now Higdon leaving the hawks high and dry.

The more I hear Bo Pelini talk, the more he is right about an early signing period or just allowing the kids to sign anytime. What is the big deal with having 1 day to sign? The NCAA would be better off just letting kids sign whenever they want to. Then you wouldn't have all this extra drama and stupid crap tying up Sportscenter and other sporting news.

Urban & now Harbaugh are changing the recruiting rules in the Big Ten. Is KF going to stand by and watch them steal all his top recruits or is he going to do something about it.

The recruiting game changed over 5 years ago. The Big Ten was slow to adapt but now with new coaches Ohio St, Penn St and Michigan have adapted to the systems of many of the other Power 5 conferences teams and have risen in the game because of it. Even Wisconsin, Michigan St Maryland and Nebraska have adapted some recently. This is why the BIG is on the rise. However Iowa has been one of the few Big Ten teams still to be slow to the change. We have started recruiting kids their Fr/So years but Iowa doesn't have the recruiting systems yet of many of the other Power 5 conferences. Some have a full team of people working year around.

I just don't get how Iowa can be behind. They get 50million from the BTN. They charge out of their minds for tickets and donations. What the heck is all that money going towards? KF & his Staff? Jesus Iowa should be near the top beings we have one of the top revenue programs in the country, but sadly we are at the bottom.

I suppose it also hurts that our coaching staff couldn't coach themselves out of a wet paper bag. They are horrible and that's why you see Iowa fading towards the bottom.

The problem is Kirk Ferentz. Until he is gone, the program will continue to fall. New lows are just ahead for this dumpster fire.

OMG, the world's coming to an end. Excuse me if I misspell something because as I am typing this, I'm slashing my wrists, drinking drano and standing on the railing of a bridge getting ready to jump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There's a trend in your posting Foley...you haven't ever said anything of intelligence.

I think a little more punctuation would really hammer your point home. Good luck old boy.

If twice in 4 years is a trend with a single RB switching sides, sure.

Anybody who didn't think that Hairball wouldn't come in and make a recruiting splash by getting some late switchers (given that he had less than a month to pull a class together) is fooling themselves. Iowa was just the unlucky SOB holding the bag.

What exactly was KF supposed to do? The kid stated publicly less than 48 ago he was 100% Iowa. Send him a sack full of C notes? Kidnap him Larry Station style? Forge a LOI? Sabatoge the plane UM sent for him? From what I have read, he didn't even bother to notify the staff of his change (but I could be wrong on that). Ferentz spent months recruiting the kid, and went for the bright shiny object with just a handful of days left.

Kids change their minds. Often. This one just happened to do it at the worst possible time, so it hurts that much more. Given what I've heard about UM's depth chart, this kid isn't exactly going to have the job handed to him. Good luck to him, move on.

The prize recruit of our class is recruited by Michigan to add depth at rb. He won't see the field there. I just hope all the 2 star kids from Iowa sign today, I know I will feel better about the upcoming seasons once they sign on the dotted line. Well we did sign a fullback, so he can be the next Mark Weisman story. People wonder why we don't get any talent. Who would want to play for a coach that plays 2 fullbacks in the same backfield for 3 years? Maybe someone that doesn't have a better offer would come here, but thats it.

What was KF to do? He could have spent his 15+ years at Iowa attempting to build a brand that would be appealing to recruits. Instead he always wanted to downplay success (outside of negotiating contracts) with the "awe we are just Iowa" "we are not a sexy program". KF has made Iowa a destination school for Iowa kids and players that didn't have the choice to sign with another Power 5 program.

again for some of you brain dead posters

that NEW COMPLEX just opened up in Nov. the U of IA just approved the hiring of a staff strictly devoted to recruiting year round, that was something KF nor Barta could do on their own, as the University still has to pay their salaries,

2016 will be the 1st class that all 7 new coaches will have had a full year working together.

getting these out of TX this year was a good job

WR Smith
WR Ogwo
LB Jinnings
LB Garbutt

lose a RB from FLA but get 1 from Alabama, and this kid is 6'1 210 lbs vs losing 1 that is 5'10 185 lbs. when I looked this kid up on ESPN he is a NR but his profile shows him at 5'8 195. this might account for his lack of offers,

the video is very impressive he can run and catch the ball and a RB is only has good as the OL in front of him. with these coming in with him to do the blocking he has just as good a chance as being a good one as Higdon would have, that's if Higdon could have avoided the AIRBHG.

Staffs all over the country have coaches who focus on recruiting. As good as our new facilities it's not like Oregon where it puts us head and shoulders above others. Basically puts us on even ground with most others and get caught up.

Besides Wallace every other coach has been here for 2+ years what they heck are you talking about? 7 New coaches WTF?

It's amazing how many mentally deficient tards on this site still think Ferentz is the man for the job. Wow!

Well, I guess Iowa hired a head coach and not the carnival barker you guys apparently believe would be a good football coach. Where the hell were you in 1999 when he was projecting the same exact things after getting hired?

Sheesh...I guess what makes a great football coach has absolutely nothing to do with actual coaching any more. Hell, all you guys want for a coach is for him to run that nice shiny offense that takes a 3rd grade level of intelligence to run (which means you can then rotate them in and out with the over-signing...they're too stupid to realize they're getting used by the school) along with a guy who basically is a telemarketer selling you Apple stock for pennies.

You will never, ever be pleased. Style over substance. At IOWA of all places. Got it.

Just so I have this straight, so his lack of offers was because ESPN only had him listed at 5'8" or because he is only 5'8" (since you said earlier in your post he is 6'1")?

That said, I'm not sure why everyone is so wound up about Higdon... If you read this board often everyone should be calling Harbaugh an idiot and a failure for even trying to steal someone that KF wanted.......

If we don't overachieve next year, exit plans for KF should be started and executed. We have the program, facilities and fan base to land a top notch coach and if Barta can;t get that started, he should get the boot also.

I was parodying the 'sky is always falling' crowd on this site.
Sad that I had to explain it to you.

Franklin Graham had a problem getting a qualifying test score and as it has now been posted that was before his SO season now that he has that test score teams like ND, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Duke have come calling some pretty heady Academic schools and they are on the upswing on the field.

he could turn into thre steal of this class, as a 1st team All State in Alabama reguardless of class, that is a impressive feat considering the school he played for.

the thing is the OL can make a avg RB look good and he will have these in front of him

6'6 Levi
6'6 Landan
6'5 or 6'6 depending upon which report you go by Waechter
6'4 Daniels blocking in front of him

It's Eric Graham, not Franklin. Article stated he took ACT late this year, his senior yr, and teams were on to him late because of that. Not his Soph year. Please read the article on main page before you post completely false information, again.

It's not one day to sign. They can sign any time they want after midnight on Feb. 4 this year.

What does this even mean? What style of offense is at a 3rd grade level? Are you talking about the SEC? Are you saying that Iowa has a more complex O scheme than the one you're referencing?
