I love Letterman/Conan/Carson (Kimmel's a classic Hollywood phony to me), so I agree with most of that.

Leno's one of those "aw shucks....who me?" types who was always secretly (and sometimes not secretly) working an angle back then, looking out for what was best for Jay.

I also understand how caustic guys like Letterman and Carson were in real life back then too, so I take some of their disdain with a grain of salt. Conan had/has the most reason to hate the guy, but he landed on his feet and carved his own hilarious way.

I think Leno's slightly better now with age and, as a car guy, I do enjoy listening to him talk about his vast car collection. His wide range of knowledge across the automotive field is impressive no matter what I think of him.
