Celebrities you were disappointed to find out how they are off-screen

Chevy Chase has had a bad rep for as long as I can remember, kinda surprised op did not know that. A good buddy of mine met Aaron Rodgers once when he was dating Danica Patrick at a rather exclusive Go Daddy holiday party. Said he was a complete asshole, which checks out.
Oh, I’ve heard about Chevy Chase for many years. Seems like these new stories come out every so often with yet another colleague saying what a tool he is.

On the flip side of this, I met a person that has been much reviled by much of the world for the past few decades. Met him about a decade before he became infamous(?) and he was very nice to me in a short interaction. I was at a Rangers game in Texas as a kid and was collecting various autographs in my program, including one of the part owners of the team whose dad was president of the USA at the time. George W Bush.
I met W when I was like 13 or 14. He was nice, but also he was talking a 13 year old.

I haven't run into many celebrities so I don't have any personal stories, but I was disappointed that Mel Gibson is such a jerk in really life. I liked him in many of his movies.

I think Mel is supposed to be cool as long as he's not hammered drunk.

Imelda Marcos pushed me out of an elevator. Not nice but hilarious.

Jerry Parr was a really nice guy. Said most Presidents became nice. JFK was kind to him. Said areagan did not walk into the hospital.

Al Nipper...lost 2 games in world series.was shy. Was a ruthless joker.

Dated Mariah Cary s cousin. She was nice but no idea about MC.

Louis Mandrell...nice when I met her at Pamida.

Jimmy Dean tried to pick up my teen sister as a middled aged man.

24601 was wrongfully convicted.
It is a detail, but as I recall Mr. Valjean freely admitted that he committed the original theft ... of a loaf of bread. (He sang "I stole a loaf of bread" in a song.

The sentence was a bit overwhelming, but he was guilty of the crime.
........................................................

In my opinion Les Miserables was the number one greatest novel ever written, and the stage musical was the number one greatest theatrical production ever created.

This is a positive interaction..

My wife and I went to a Ziggy Marley show a couple years ago and we stayed in a hotel close to the concert venue that he was playing at... Ziggy ended up staying at that same hotel we were at and he talked to my wife and I in the lobby for quite awhile after the concert. He also talked to us the following morning as we were leaving the hotel the same time that he was. He offered his time without us bothering him at all to do so. I don’t think I’ve ever met a more genuine person.

Chris Weber when I was younger at Fashion Square Mall. Was with a buddy who was a Michigan fan and he had a hat but asked me if I’d get signed.

I said “Hey Chris can you sign this amd as he started to I said it’s for my friend as I’m an Iowa fan.

He smiled and I said you know AC Earl and them boys who took you down when you were #1.

He laughed and said i was just about to say AC Earl.

He was cool but I’m still here saying **** Michigan :)

That is awesome. He is a great talent himself.

I was related to an Iowa basketball player on the team in the Acie Earl days so knew him casually. He was always nice to me, but was kind of a douche. Will never forget 2am waiting in line at Hardee’s (now brothers for those not old as dirt like me) to get a burger and Acie was right ahead of me. Anyway Acie tries to pick up two seriously hot sorority girls in line - he asked if they wanted to do a threesome. He struck out.

“But I’m Acie Earl” has me chuckling to myself to this day. CSB.
Sounds like a legend to me with the attempt

Neil De Gr ass e not a real physicist or astronomer.
What are you smoking?

Tyson attended the Bronx High School of Science, went on to major in physics at Harvard, and earned a master's degree in astronomy from the University of Texas at Austin. He returned to New York to earn his Ph. D. in astrophysics from Columbia University in 1991.

Have met a handful of celebrities over the years.
Shaq
Lou Ferrigno
Helen Hunt
Michael Douglas
Tony Dorset
Bobby Bowden

All of them were amazing.

Fun story about Tony Dorset. When I went to medical school in Dallas a classmate had an apartment in Valley Ranch. That is where the Cowboys practice. Went to watch a game a this small sports bar named Cowboys Cafe. My buddy and I noticed a large round table that said Reserved for Tony Dorset. We were poor students but had a helmet of beers and some food.
About halftime TD walks in with some friends and his family. This was the early 90's. He was still huge.

Well by the time the game was over we ran up quite a tab. So I told the waiter that TD would pick up the bill. He walked over to him and asked him about this. Tony looked at the bill and looked at us. Then rubbing his chin looked at the bill again and sorry guys too rich for me. We all had a nice laugh and got to shake his hand. Really cool guy.

When I worked at Showtime, I was told the majority of the cast of Weeds were assholes, especially the lead. In contrast , the cast of Dexter were all really nice people. Also, although I never did a shoot with him, Dave Navarro was supposedly an asshole every time my team had to do a shoot for a new season of Ink Master with him. I was at another mega shot for Spike and I remember Kimbo Slice being surprisingly fun and cool guy to work with.

From reddit (John Mayer)

I was at a very small, hard to get in, Hollywood club. This must have been like 2016 or so. At the time, I really liked Nike dunks. Also I didn’t know what John Mayer looked like. So I see this guy with these polka dot dunks and I just immediately walk up to him, like “cool shoes man, where did you get those?” And he pauses and rolls his eyes and then goes, “wow….well played man…..do you know Takashi? And I was like….uhh ok, no. And walked away. MFer just assumed I tried talking about shoes just so I could talk to him lol

I used to work for a concert venue and Chevy Chase ended up taking a seat that wasn't his. He was a real dick to the folks who actually had tickets for that seat, and then was a petulant asshole towards the ushers. The original ticket holders ended up with free upgraded seats since Chevy wouldn't move

I had heard from someone that Helen Hunt was a bitch. I think they filmed something for Twister near where he lived

She was very nice and pleasant. We were on a small plane together. She was right behind me while boarding. We chatted. Became single serve friends.

From a friend of my wife who drove a limo in Denver. Joan Rivers was said to be a real bitch. Bill Cosby was sweet but he was probably hitting on the friend because my wife says she was very cute.
The friend was from the same town in Montana where Evil Knievel was from and showed her little brother how to ride a motorcycle:)
