Celebrities you were disappointed to find out how they are off-screen

BB was nice enough to talk to me, but you could tell he hates U of Iowa. I don't know what went down. But give it a rest BB. Hayden and Iowa are the only reason for his success.
Between fry and kf alot of shit went down staff wise.
BB was not pleased with some of the retention or being rewarded for his loyalty.
Obviously his style was also a little brass for kf.

I'll relay my personal experience, which showed me many years ago to not always buy into the popular narrative about people.
In the summer of 1982, after my freshman year in college, I was at a friend's house watching the first game of the NBA Western conference finals with another buddy. One of them was a big Lakers fan, the other a big Spurs fan. The guy who was the Spurs fan had a brother who lived in San Antonio; he called & joked with us about getting tickets for the game if we wanted to come. Wr laughed, but by the end of the 3rd quarter had decided to go for games 3&4 in SA. We drove from Tampa to San Antonio for those games, which were on Friday night and Sunday afternoon.
In the early 80s, the NBA was down in popularity. On Saturda, we went down near the arena; hung out by a tv near an open door - the Spurs were practicing, LA waiting to practice. Watched some of the Eastern finals game with Macadoo and a few other Lakers.
As players were leaving to walk back to their hotel, we were pretty much the only people there. All of the Spurs players, and all but one of the Lakers, stopped to let us get photos & chatted with us. One blew us off entirely...Magic. No friendly conversation, no big smile - just shrugged us off. If there were 100s of people around it would not have bothered me, but we were literally the only people there & he didn't have 2 seconds for us. Even Kareem, who had the reputation of being surly, was very friendly, stopped to let us take pics, and chatted with us...he was shocked when we told him we'd driven from Tampa for the games.
I've always consider Magic to be a phony since that day.

Did he know you were a dirty slutzker or did you have to tell him?
Oh he knew

Dang.

My brother's friend was a chef in D.C. around 2010 and met Clint Eastwood and said good things.
Maybe he just had distain for Iowa. That's what it seemed like... did not want to be here.

Did some side security work when Bridges was filmed. Got to observe him interact with a variety of people....total asshat....especially to men.

Acie Earl is always trying to sell you something,
I was related to an Iowa basketball player on the team in the Acie Earl days so knew him casually. He was always nice to me, but was kind of a douche. Will never forget 2am waiting in line at Hardee’s (now brothers for those not old as dirt like me) to get a burger and Acie was right ahead of me. Anyway Acie tries to pick up two seriously hot sorority girls in line - he asked if they wanted to do a threesome. He struck out.

“But I’m Acie Earl” has me chuckling to myself to this day. CSB.

Ummm. For David Cross, I was asked to deliver something to him. I just assumed he knew it was coming. So I brought him his thing, and I just tried to be like "hey I'm a big fan, and we're all happy you're here tonight." and he was just kind of rude about it. Like a major dick. I was kind of shocked. Like it takes no effort to be like "thanks."

After the Head and The Heart played there, we started calling them All Head No Heart.

Drew Carey was real cool. So was Jad Abumrad from Radiolab. So was Mike Birbiglia. There was also this canadian country singer named Bacia Bulat and she was so ****ing cool. Surprisingly, Father John Misty... real cool. He DJ'd our afterparty and was a ****ing blast.
Love Father John Misty. His new album from last month is pretty solid in case you haven't heard it yet.

Acie attended the same elementary as me. He was a nice kid growing up, but I remember his dad tried to get a shoeline for Acie, so I believe that’s where he learned how to try and sell people stuff.

My sister (no pics) used to do PR in New York and worked with Celine Deion and said she was a diva. Not totally surprising. lol

CSB.
I was down at a bar / restaurant in Hobe Sound. The bartender said that Deion would go there for drinks and was incredibly kind, down to earth including how she dressed to wearing no makeup.

My sister could be wrong. She's been wrong before.

She also worked with Halle Berry and said Halle is amazing. She has a picture with her.

No pics..

Will tell a positive story. Was in the hotel bar in Munich. Two guys next to me were actors talking being in a film being made locally and about their careers. I didn't recognize either. I was doing office work on my computer and left them alone for about an hour. I told them I was in medicine and am all science along with my wife and that we have one really creative kid. I asked them how they got into acting as I thought it would be something my kid would enjoy but had now idea how people tried it out or discovered it was their calling.

He pleasantly chatted about his work in high school and onto college. I asked if he had made a living and how he got gigs. We talked about 15 minutes or so. I picked up their last beers without them knowing figuring they were struggling actors. As we all got up to leave the bartender told them I got their beer. They both thanked me. Next day I saw him outside the hotel and he made sure to say hello. We exchanged pleasantries as we went off to the airport.

I watched The Batman on my Delta flight and was like holy fvck there is the guy. I just hung out with Peter Skaarsgard. Guys worth 25 million. Super nice and so much for a starving actor.

I've also been at an airport lounge sitting next to Leah Thompson of Back the Future fame. I kept seeing her and thinking this is someone I should know but couldn't place her. She was very nice to the staff. Got up to let a couple, who was looking for a table, know that she was leaving. About a minute later it dawned on my who she was. I checked her social media and confirmed it was her as she was in New York with a friend for a Broadway performance.

It sort of bummed me out because I pined after her through my teen years. Not that I would have said or talked to her. I generally try to leave people alone. She still looks great for 63.

I see he’s in a series based on Presumed Innocent? Great book and great movie. Raul Julia stole that movie.

Anyone watching the series? Bueller?

On the flip side of this, I met a person that has been much reviled by much of the world for the past few decades. Met him about a decade before he became infamous(?) and he was very nice to me in a short interaction. I was at a Rangers game in Texas as a kid and was collecting various autographs in my program, including one of the part owners of the team whose dad was president of the USA at the time. George W Bush.

The series was excellent. I read the book and saw the movie starring Harrison Ford. Skaarsgard plays the persecutor Tommy Motto.

Im a big fan of Skaarsgard. He has been on my radar since 2005 playing a sniper in Jarhead. Before that he was in Boys Don’t Cry, Shattered Glass and Garden State. He most always plays a very complicated character with total ease and will steal scenes. Easily one of my favorite actors. He also plays a great villain. I thought The Batman role was a little bit beneath him.

Great scene in All the Right Moves with Tom Cruise

I don’t think there is a soul who didn’t think Dubya would be a helluva lot of fun to hang with.

I’m kind of surprised by this thread. I just assume all were douchebags and am pleasantly surprised when they aren’t. I also think the more nice and jovial show business people are in front of the cameras, the bigger a-holes in their private life. The reverse is true too. People who aren’t afraid to be a-holes on camera are likely more genuine and have less to hide. Keep in mind, this is only “entertainers” I’m talking about.

Chevy Chase has had a bad rep for as long as I can remember, kinda surprised op did not know that. A good buddy of mine met Aaron Rodgers once when he was dating Danica Patrick at a rather exclusive Go Daddy holiday party. Said he was a complete asshole, which checks out.

I've only interacted with some Iowa "celebrities" during my time in Iowa City.

I had a class with Megan Gustafson and she was incredibly nice.

A lot of the football team ate at the restaurant I worked at during my 4 years. Besides being kinda shitty tippers they were always respectful and easy going.

Jordan Bohannon was a tool, and I'm surprised he didn't get knocked out sooner.
