Anyone surprised Wisconsin didn't take a knee

I'm comfortable naming Alvarez as the real force behind their success. Bielema wanted to make the program more about him than the University. Barry said buh-by. Barta could learn a thing or two from BA
Ummm...yeah, because I'm pretty sure Barry made the call on the fake punt...not.

Total ass hat move on Chryst and Barry ... could of took the knee the game was over .. BUT it’s like a double edged sword... if it were Iowa I would hope they would cram as many points down their throats as possible.. Iowa needs to learn how to put the pedal on the metal and no mercy but as long as KF is at the helm you can forget about that

No reason to be upset over this. While the chances were extremely minimal that Iowa could come back. Going for the first down which ended up to be a touchdown was the smart move. Iowa had enough timeouts to force a field goal. Which would have made it 7.

You would be incorrect.

Can’t believe Iowa fans are complaining and whining over a simple run play after Iowa was calling timeouts. Don’t like it, stop it or don’t give them the opportunity. Wow, grow up and take the loss like a good sport. Iowa gave the game away, they didn’t deserve to win.

GDGB has a man crush on his boss: Kirk.

Gary Andersen - fired from Oregon State
Biels - fired from Arkansas
Chryst - Chryst graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1988 with a degree in political science, and was a three-time football letterwinner at the quarterback position for the Badgers.

Are any of those 3 coaches better than KF? If not they shouldn't be beating him. Alvarez is why Wisconsin has elevated itself. Andersen; Biels; Chryst all three have done their best work under the same AD.
Stoops or Gable as Iowa's AD and we have a winning record against the Badgers right now.

I would LOVE for Bob Stoops or Gable to be our AD.

I turned the tv off. So Ferentz snubbed Chryst after the game?
I don’t know if he did. I saw Chryst make it onto the field, stop, and turn his head towards the locker room. The players hid everything from my angle after that.

They didn’t acknowledge on tv at all when I watched the replay, but Wisconsin was lined up to take the final kickoff and called timeout. It came across as showboating after a TD even if that wasn’t the intent.

It’s why I think Iowa ran the series of laterals at the end. Kirk was annoyed that Wisconsin was wasting time and decided to troll them back. I don’t think the TD would have bothered him much without the timeout.

That makes me wonder how coaches behave toward each other in the future when stuff like this happens. Do they put it behind them, or do they continue to hold grudges and not greet each other in the future?

They need a rule where a coach can say “We are good, end game immediately and let’s go home.”

Until that happens you do what is necessary.

This is major college football, if you get butt hurt over the end I suggest you switch to DIII games.

I think the play call was intended to get a 1st down.
If Ingold hadn't scored a TD and merely made a 1st down conversion, we would have knelt the next play.
It really has nothing to do with not showing respect or trying to rub it in.
If you can't understand that, well, I guess whatever.

This is absolutely correct. This is a dumb conversation. I would take my beer and move to a different table if I sat down to this conversation.

I think the end around and the timeout before the final kickoff ruffled some feathers. I saw Chryst walk out onto the field for the handshake, but I never saw Ferentz meet him.

Wow, I know this is an Iowa board and folks are pissed but the concept of this thread is nuts. If Wisconsin had taken a knee on 3rd down with time on the clock and Iowa having a time out left in a 4 point game, their coach should be fired. You might argue that KF would have been screaming at the runner to go down once they successfully got the first down, but anything beyond that is crazy. The hawks sold out at the LOS trying to stop a 1st and get the ball back, I had no issue with that play.

They just ran a counter play opposite of motion. Nothing to tricky or complicated. The Hawks stacked the LOS to match Wisconsin's front, sold out and got burned.
Exactly. At that point Iowa is forced to gamble on a quick stop and a miracle finish to win the game. The counter by the fullback, who tends not to fumble was designed to: 1. Take up maximum game clock, and 2. Make the first down, if possible.

I doubt the coaches were thinking about anything else.

Ingold admitted he considered falling at the 1. That's actually the percentage play since Iowa then cannot stop the kneel downs whereas by having the ball, I suppose they have time for two miracle TDs and an on-side kick recovery.

By scoring he gave the Hawkeyes about a 0.0001% chance. By falling at the 1 he would have ended any chance.

Iowa took a knee in the 1st with plenty of time to try...

I was praying neither side had a serious injury there.
Frankly, it was much worse than Badgers scoring late, Iowa still couldn’t win even if they scored there and bodies were endangered on both sides and all over the field.
That being said, it was humorous, lots of fun.
