Anyone else see his comments after the game about telling Illini fans off after the win because they’ve been horrible to him over the years? It was kinda funny the way he talked about it. I’ve never paid much attention or had any real interactions with Illinois fans (most of them who post here seem decent), so I was curious what others thought (especially in light of what happened Sunday).

Illinois is, and always has been, trash. I used to work in the Quad-Cities, and when Illinois was winning in football or basketball, Illinois "fans" were insufferable. When they were losing, the fans disappeared. I tried to think of something positive to say about Illinois and its fans, but I failed.

Kudos to Jackson-Davis for speaking some truth.

I completely second that. In an area represented by all 4 major sports teams, including 2 for baseball, they seem to only make time to be interested in college sports when one of the programs is doing well. And plus the vocal Illinois fan is generally the douchey suburban 'Chicago' kid that lives an hour away from it. Growing up I didn't get why it was regarded as a rivalry until I lived in Iowa City and met about eleven thousand of those kids that couldn't get into Illinois paying out of state tuition to Iowa.

Illinois fans can be insufferable. The only difference between Illinois fans and Nebraska fans is Illinois fans are smart enough to understand that when their teams are terrible they need to just STFU. Even this year, they have been remarkably quiet, even when Illinois was playing really well. Maybe they understood the truth about Kofi, that while he is good, he isn't good enough to carry the team deep into March.

So, yeah, they can be as bad as Nebraska fans, but they aren't oblivious.

They are very much a frontrunner fanbase.

Well, to be fair, until recently Iowa was cheaper to pay out of state tuition than going to Illinois.

Must be an Illinois thing because Cubs fans were the same way. They finally win a world series and you would have thought they had a dynasty in baseball.

I remember how you people treated Deon Thomas for four years, throwing car keys at him, calling him racist names….don’t forget your fans calling Kofi an ape on Instagram last year….the holier than thou angle is amusing..
