If it's in a patty it's a "Burger".

If not a patty they are often called a "Loose Meat Sandwich".

Hot Dog? No friggen way. Noone has ever called one a "Wiener Sandwich".
what about ground chicken formed into a patty, fried, and put in a bun with lettuce and tomato. Is that a fried chicken sandwich or a chicken burger?

Help me out here. If you make a sandwich with a single piece of bread, folding it over with cheese and meat inside, it’s not a sandwich? I mean that’s a folded roll. But, magically, if you add a second piece of bread it’s a real sandwich?

That's a question for Google AI.

I’ve never been to a restaurant that has dogs on the menu, and hope I never do. Food cart or truck I would expect that, but an actual sit down restaurant, no, not even on the kids menu.
Next time your in Iowa city go to Hudson’s, great place and great dogs.

So based on your criteria, if you split the hot dog roll all the way in half instead of only splitting it open 90% of the way then it magically becomes a sandwich.

Do you realize how many different types of sandwiches are no longer sandwiches if we disregard split rolls?

They call that "The Money Maker" down in the Cath Lab.

ISF food is good for business.

Burger yes. Dog no because it only has 1 piece of bread.

an item of food consisting of two pieces of bread with meat, cheese, or other filling between them, eaten as a light meal.
"a ham sandwich"
Guess you've never heard of or eaten a Danish open-faced sandwich. One piece of bread. Famous and not only in Denmark,
Plus a hot dog bun has a top to it as well as bottom making it like 2 pieces.
