When the C.D.C. finally recommended masks for ordinary Americans, it emphasized cloth face coverings. It took months more for the C.D.C. and the W.H.O. to concede that the coronavirus can be carried by tiny droplets called aerosols, which can linger indoors for hours.
A defiant Robert Redfield teed off on other former directors of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday, lambasting the other onetime agency leaders for publicly criticizing his, and the Trump administration’s, response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In light of the CDC’s ongoing self-examination, Redfield and his colleagues had plenty of suggestions for how the agency can restore its credibility among the American public.
Just a guess, but the majority of teachers are under 65 and most are low risk for serious illness.
If you want to prevent people missing work, then stop testing for a minor cough and making them stay home 5 days.
BTW, lots of people would gladly stay home for covid because they don't feel very bad so it's essentially a paid vacation.

Covid is more dangerous than flu, and spread more easily.
Neither are very dangerous for young healthy people.
Most people in schools do not meet cdc criteria for the high risk category for flu or covid. Of the people who have any symptoms from flu or covid, most "suffer" a runny nose, sore throat, cough, possibly a mild fever, fatigue. All of us have dealt with these things every winter since birth and no amount of vaccines will stop us from getting a cold.

Covid is different now than it was in 2020. We have different strains, different treatments, more knowledge, and we also have natural immunity.

The data are insufficient to determine whether or not there are adverse outcomes (or it is sufficient and they're hiding it because of liability reasons).

You are really searching for someone to be mad at. With your thought process it must be extremely hard being you because you must always be mad at someone. There are some key words in there that you seem to not be able to interpret. For one, he never said masks alone, that's you someone adding that in your mind. Second, he said "I really think", he didn't say "I guarantee". Third, he specified a variable length of time (four, six, eight weeks), so again he's not guaranteeing anything. Fourth, he said "under control", if you notice he did say eliminate, which is how you're reading it.
If your kids go to the dentist and has a bunch of cavities, the dentist is probably going to say, "If Joey would stop eating candy, I really feel that he can get his cavities under control". In your mind, you'd be pissed at the dentist if Joey had another cavity.
Joe, I'm with you on many topics including this thread. That said I have seen someone close to me, who had both the vaccine (multiple shots) and Covid, have their autoimmune disease accelerate since the start of Covid. It was unnoticeable for the last 30 years and in the last 2 years it's just taken off and has spread. It could have been something that just happened on its own, or it could have been from getting Covid, or we have to consider it could have been from the vaccine. At this point we really don't know the answer, but we'd be foolish not to consider everything.

I don't claim to be an expert and will never be an expert, just like many other things in life. I don't claim to be a financial expert but I've done pretty good with my retirement. I'm willing to make my decisions and live with the outcome. For me personally I didn't have an issues with the vaccine so I plan to get the latest booster.
I will say I get a laugh out of people like HawkedOff and Pinehawk that feel the government lied to them and are mad about everything. I've NEVER heard anyone say to take HCQ to prevent infection... I've only heard it used post infection. They only confirmed that it is safe and doesn't carry unnecessary side-effects from use, unlike the vaccine which carries risks of mycarditis, among many other things.
