Seems like there have been a spate of injuries of late. Fluke stuff or just beating on each other?

I feel the Hawks have been extremely fortunate regarding lack of injuries and lack of major injuries in camp. We've had plenty of camps that have been much worse.

Oh, don't jinx it! Just kidding, but we've also avoided (for the most part) off-field arrests and issues.

There are what, over 100 players in camp? There are bound to be injuries, both minor and serious, when there are that many players involved. This year isn't any better or worse than the average year IMO.

if I was on the team.... I'd sustain a career ending injury while putting my pads on...
at some point you have to let them play hard and prepare them all as though they were going to play the next game.

I know people want to say we are one injury away from 0-12 or whatever...
but look at last season... we lost our best player... and we still did all right.

we're deeper and more prepared than what some give us credit for.

Sure its been physical, but I dont think the injury thing is any more concerning than it normally is. Guys get dinged all the time, regardless of how "physical" the practice is. Kind of is what it is.

With as many young players particularly true freshman that are going to see playing time I am sure they are wanting to prepare the team for the physicality that they are going to face. With that you are going to have more Nicks and dings then you might otherwise usually have. Hopefully they allow adequate time to recover. I'm sure they will, they obviously know own what they are doing.

Having played in college it always seemed I was more sore going into the first couple weeks of the Season than I was at the endof the season. I hated camp. Of course part of that was my fault for not always coming in to Camp as in shape as I should have been

Well to be fair. Wisnieski has been injured pretty much his whole career at Iowa. But it is normal to have a few guys out here and there in camp and have a couple go down with longer term injuries. Just part of the game.

You want to play physical on Saturday you better practice physical....its not rocket science and I have always loved going to practices and watching....it was a solid practice if a fight broke out....it seemed almost encouraged by both Fry and KF. Only difference is KF goes best on best with the iron sharpens iron mentality and Fry would go 1's vs 2's.....I like the best on best approach myself. I have seen just as many players get injured with non contact (running, cutting, etc) as I have with contact injuries, at least major injuries like sprains, tears, etc.

Thanks. I wasn't fretting and maybe I haven't paid as close attention in the past. It just seems like they've been a little bitten this year.

Ferentz is on record lamenting about the number of injuries during camp. It most certain has been impacting the development of the squad. My guess is that it is especially impacting the consistency of the O.

I am under the impression that practicing like little pussies would especially impact the consistency of the O more so than a few bumps and bruises.....practice like you play, simple as that.

That's football. The average fan would be shocked how many guys are 'dinged up' every Sunday after a Saturday game. Training staff does a lot of 'treating' mild to moderate to severe injuries every day.

Nobody that plays is 100% healthy by November. Players just try to survive the season.

It's not just bumps and bruises if it forces guys to miss DAYS of practice. Also, I'm not advocating that they practice with less physicality. I'm just reiterating that Ferentz has reflected on the impact of the injuries. He's the one responsible for the culture of toughness - so it means more when he laments about the injuries.

I think that the squad can develop into a really impressive group ... I'm willing to bet that Ferentz and Davis believe that too. Consequently, it's an obvious disappointment if injuries have set the group "behind schedule."

Can you share the links of Ferentz lamenting the injuries? I haven't heard out of his normal coach speak unless he was talking about Stanley.

Love the physicality in practice! Let's get back to being the bullies of the big ten! If we want to be the most physical team on the field every Saturday we have to practice like it. Also where is the link to Ferentz lamenting about the injuries?

AGREED. Walk like you talk and we are doing it. No starters injured that I've read. Game prep sked next week so should be in GREAT shape for opener.
