Seems like we are split down the middle on this board. Some thinks there's nothing to it while others think it's a smoking gun.

Some have cited other SOS doing the same and I believe some governors conducting business like this.

So, is there something here in your opinion and why?

Hillary must be the talking point on right wing media. I think they know that taking Hillary down is their only chance next election. They sure don't want to focus on the dumpster fire that is the GOP primaries.

The better question is just how big of a phoney is Hillary.
That IS an AMAZING question! Better yet, how can you even measure phoneyism? Is there a standard unit of measurement? Is there a international committee of phoney experts that convenes annually with updates in the field of phoneyism? Great question Bob, keep thinking of great questions and fighting the good fight!

Here's my guess, it's kind of like deflategate. She (like Tom Brady) most likely did some things she shouldn't have, not really thinking about it at the time but realizing later she really shouldn't have, all without any initial malicious intent. She then covered it up to some degree, and is now scrambling (also like Tom Brady). The reality is, whatever she did with the emails (or deflated balls) that she shouldn't have, probably made little or no difference in any outcomes of anything.

Here's where it's different in Hillary's case. IF (big if) it's found she knew all about what was happening in Benghazi and declined to do anything about it, it's a mistake she should have owned back when it happened, and now she's spent so long covering it that it truly could be a death blow to her campaign.

I think the real question is what is the extent of her malfeasance. Those who deny she did anything wrong are delusional. She's admitted she made mistakes that shouldn't have been made. So it's not whether she did something wrong, but rather how far she went.

Interesting, but wouldn't that be a death blow to the current administration from SOS to the POTUS?

They don't have to worry about Hilary at all. If they would put up a competent candidate who ran on spending is too high, taxes are too high, spending on entitlements is too high and we don't have enough funding in job training/education at the local level and stay the F out of the bedroom the GOP would cake walk to victory. 420-100 style.

The problem is there are multiple layers to this issue and depending on what you are focusing on, your opinion will be influenced. The pro-Clinton forces are focusing strictly on the server and the email account and citing that it was perfectly acceptable for her to have these and use these as Secretary of State. They are correct. However, that is not what the problem is. The issue is that she was using a private server that was not encrypted and was not kept in a secure location and this server was storing classified and sensitive information. That is a violation of the Espionage Act and is a felony crime.

Remember, David Petraeus was prosecuted for violation of the Espionage Act by simply keeping his personal calendar in a locked desk drawer at his home and the calendar listed some classified names. He was able to plea down to a misdemeanor to avoid jail time. Hillary had over 60,000 emails on this un-encrypted server which most likely was hacked by multiple foreign governments. As of right now their were emails identified by the US Inspector General that did have classified status. This is why it was turned over to the Justice Department and the FBI for formal investigation. There are now reports that up to 300+ emails so far have been identified as "problematic". Remember, Petraeus was prosecuted for one count. She is potentially looking at 300+ counts so far.

The final layer of this problem is now with the 30,000 emails on her server that she claimed were personal and not subject to FOIA requests which she proceeded to delete and then wipe the server. The FBI now has the server and will run forensic analysis of the server. If they pull up any of these deleted emails and they turn out to be public and even worse, classified, then she is really in a world of hurt. She would then be subject to obstruction of justice charges along with contempt of Congress, obstruction of a Congressional investigation and criminal perjury to go along with her Espionage Act violations. I would be very nervous if I was her.

Based on what the facts are at present, I think that she will definitely be brought up on charges for violating the Espionage Act. Remember that one of the mandatory penalties that come with a guilty verdict of the Espionage Act, is the permanent ban from holding any elected public office at the federal, state, or local levels.

What will the political impact be. Who knows. There is a group of supporters that will vote for her even if she adopted Mein Kampf for her campaign platform. What this does show is a great deal of incompetence on her part. Also her continued lies and complete butchering of the fact line on all of this is bad. When a recent poll of registered voters in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Ohio was taken earlier this week and 2/3 of respondents said they found her untrustworthy and dishonest, that does not bode well for you to win the general election considering it comes down to winning those three states. Her cavalier comments about the Snap Chat account and then mocking Ed Henry's question about wiping the server when she asks "with a cloth", is really starting to insult peoples intelligence. It doesn't help when you have liberal columnists from the New York Times and Washington Post saying the same thing. Bob Woodward has now said this scandal is the closest thing he has seen to Watergate. I think it will be tough for anyone to convince Americans that Bob Woodward is now part of the "Right Wing Conspiracy" that she blames for everything.

The United Nations probably has a good handle on this definition. They're experts on this subject.

She is a liar

Hillary has had a target on her back for decades. All the way back to when she and Bill let the Chinese run an internment camp outside of Mena, AR. Back to when she blew Vince Foster's brains out then skillfully transferred his fingerprints to the gun.
I don't know how it'll clear out in the end, but, it is undeniable that there has been a concerted effort to drag her down by Republican members of Congress for over a year. The partisanship of the investigations stinks of old fish.

Let's see……..she used an unauthorized server to receive and transmit Top Secret information and used a store-bought phone to do the same with.

Yeah. She did nothing wrong. (Roll eyes)

So the FBI, under the leadership of Barack Obama, is investigating her because they ran out of cases?

No other SOS did what Hillary did. There is little question now that she violated government policy, probably violated some laws. Even her supporters -- a lot of them, anyway -- are conceding this much.

Whether "scandal" will be an appropriate, objective description remains to be seen. It's definitely a serious blow to her, though, because she's given different and conflicting explanations, stonewalled, refused to cooperate, said things that have subsequently be proven false, and on top of all that, the absolute best thing that can be said for her is that she stepped on her dick, big-time.

After all these investigations Republicans will be left holding a big bag of nothing. The taxpayers won't be holding nothing. They'll be left holding the bill for the phony investigations. Then they'll chime in that it was malfeasance. Or, the FBI was under the control of the Obama administration. Or, the emails were all destroyed. Something. It'll be something. And, when they've cried and moaned they'll quickly move on to some other outrageous scandal attributed to Hillary.

Maybe, but they're on the way out anyway. Obama could do almost anything, and about 45% of the nation would think he was wonderful, or he could cure world hunger, and 45% of America would think he's one of the 4 worst presidents ever.

The D's that are coming out of the woodwork to potentially run against Hillary make me think there may be something to this whole mess though (at least politically), as if they don't believe she's such a sure thing anymore.

The problem is the right wing has run so many "Gotcha" stories that it has become like the, "Boy who cried wolf".

There is way too much stuff here to believe Hillary did all this without someone telling her what kind of mistake she was making. And I've yet to hear exactly why she'd have done it. So she could keep all her communications secret, but it turns out they weren't secure?

Yeah, right.

Welcome to what you get with stuff like Birther conspiracies.

And no, no way I'd vote for Hillary. This isn't about trusting her, it's about trusting the right to get a story, well, right.

Did you read 73cheif's post? He nailed this whole thread. Read it again and tell me this is all phoney. Why do you think the FBI is involved? Just because of republican partisanship?

You have to be kidding? She had CLASSIFIED emails on a personal server. Felony.

Well at least one Federal Judge disagrees with you.

She did it so she could have ultimate control over the emails. You don't go through Whitewater and all of the other investigations that she has been through without learning some tricks. To do what she did was 100% about control. She would have gotten away with it had it not been for Benghazi and her natural instinct to move immediately to her deny and stonewall default mode. Had she handed over the emails that the Congressional committee original asked for, none of this would have come to light.

Hillary why you posting on this board? Is it because they have the first caucuses? How did you like the state fair?

I believe it was other SOS had a private server but not exclusively a private server that they used for all e-mails.

Obama is pissed she has made his administration look bad! Nobody makes Obama look bad! Bill Clinton once said Obama should be serving their coffee and he only won because he is black! Obama is many things and vendgeful is one! Hillary is going down!!!!

She committ the crime now do the time!!

She is just like David Patreaus she crossed the line!

She is a felon!

Bill Clinton told Ted Kennedy that Obama 'would be getting us coffee' a few years ago: 'Game Change'

He has, for example, called Obama “incompetent” and “an amateur” who has no clue about how the world operates, according to an article in Sunday’s Post by Edward Klein, author of “The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House.”

“Obama doesn’t know how to be president,” Clinton told friends and political advisers last year, the article added. “He doesn’t know how the world works.”

The Benghazi Boys have a boner again. They love to cry wolf.

you got to be kidding about the right wing conspiracy. The FBI and DOJ are the ones looking at this. It is way past a Fox discussion.

Also, who the hell fights to not turn over the server and then turns over a wiped server to the freaking FBI? Wow.

I've been told that the Clinton's have been in the middle of 22 'scandals' over the last 25 years and that the only accusation that stuck was Slick Willie getting a beej in the Oval Office. (This was an offshoot of the Whitewater investigation that cost taxpayers $50 to $70 million depending on who you ask.)

So good luck Hillary Haters, you're going to need it.

Everyone should know not to mix up your work and personal E-mails. The fact that a secretary of state didn't know that is scary. The idea that said secretary of state could become POTUS is scarier.

However the republicans are looking incompetent again and so if she can win the primary she will win. However it's looking more and more like Sanders is going to give her a legit challenge.

I don't think I can vote for anyone except maybe Kasich. But he won't win the primary and I'm not likely going to vote in a primary anyways.

Apparently the vast right wing conspiracy now includes the New York Times and Jerry Brown, governor of California.

Jerry said recently:

California Gov. Jerry Brown told NBC News’ Chuck Todd that Hillary Clinton’s ongoing email scandal is full of “dark energy” that she must address. “It’s almost like a vampire,” Brown said. “She’s gonna have to find a stake and put it through the heart of these emails, in some way.”
