How many politicians come into congress prior to being millionaires and enrich themselves while they are elected officials? Elon Musk doesn’t need to kiss anyone’s ass and he and other members of the DOGE, which include Democrats, will recommend cuts as they see fit. I wish he would not involve any actively sitting congressmen as they are compromised. He needs those who are no longer serving in govt positions.

The 40% you speak of is how much congress people would have got in raises from 2009 to now if there was not the block to cola raises. I know it can be hard to read and understand.
Several news agencies all state a 3.8% increase in congress pay. I think their 174,000 salary is enough but also they havent had a pay raise in 15 years. There is a whole lot of good things and some bad things in this bill.
But also there is a govt shutdown looming Saturday if it doesnt get passed.

Honestly I’d rather they get paid 7 figures. But eliminate stock sales. Also they have to turn in billable hours. Only so much per week for campaigning. We are broke? By we do you mean the country? Have you looked at the assets side of the ledger for the US. way more trillions of dollars in assets than our national debt. Do you know accounting or how to balance your home finances.
Look at the assets, extreme assets in mineral and oil and gas rights, land to sell, buildings to sell, roads and bridges to put tolls on and raise billions.
Tax the rich , the personal wealth in this country is about $165 trillion right now. Do a one time progressive tax to raise $18 trillion dollars and pay off half the debt in one fell swoop.
But we are not in drastic debt or broke.
The guy is quite smart and successful. He has been a very successful businessman. I would say give him a chance. The problem here is tough decisions need to be made. Nobody will like cutting departments as that puts people out of work. The reality is the deficit is out of control and hard cuts need to be made. I am interested in seeing what things will be cut. I think there are hundreds of easy cuts to make right away including how many millions we give to countries that have dictatorships and they hate us.

If you read real news and not the DOGE feed from X platform you will find the raise to be about 4%. But hard to convince idiots
