At the end of the day, most of the country lives paycheck to paycheck.

And they care way more about the price of Cheerios than they do about a “national abortion ban” or “the end of democracy”. Those things aren’t tangible to them. They also are not too fond of being forced to pay off the loans of future doctors and lawyers.

This was always the obvious truth.

This is unfortunately true.

This x a zillion.

For the last few years we've seen many retired and/or late in their career HBOTers brag about how everything is going great for them because their 401ks are going through the roof. The disconnect from these HBOTers and the average person trying to manage life through these inflationary times is striking.

I think people are getting wise to the nonsense they see on the news. There has been no serious talk of a national abortion ban. Trump has said himself that he doesn't and wouldn't support one. So that's a non-issue. As for the end of democracy, it's difficult to take that claim seriously when it is coming from the party that had their insiders and not the voters select the candidate. And people still remember the Democrats cheating Bernie Sanders. If there is a threat to democracy, we've already seen one party draw up the blueprints.

The end of Democracy was laughable. It was like someone caught cheating on their spouse but blaming the other one for cheating with out any proof. Just to deflect what they did themselves.

My FB feed confirms this.

Vote in the most morally bankrupt president in our lifetime, so he can bring down the price of Cheerios by $.79? Unbelievable

And now Trump and the Republicans own it. Good luck on getting those grocery prices down to 2019 levels when he's pushing an economic agenda that is almost certainly going to spike inflation.

And for many it’s their own fault.

Loans on more car and house than they can afford.

Loans to private colleges.

Racking up credit card debt on “wants”.

You would never know people are living paycheck to paycheck if you looked at the size of new homes, the high dollar vehicles, and entertainment spending.

Not to mention national abortion ban and end of democracy are contrived for campaign purposes. They're great for the base because they'll believe anything, but they don't appeal to a single moderate/independent/common sense voter.

What’s astonishing is watching this thread fail to acknowledge Trump’s impact on inflation since 2019. Remember when he signed letters to most every household and mailed checks? Selective amnesia here.

Yes. If people think a morally bankrupt person is the one who can help them feed their kids and keep the lights and heat on, then it’s a very easy choice for them.

It wasn't affordable even under a Trump. That's the point. How are you not getting this?
Talk about gaslighting. Everyone who lives paycheck to paycheck has been telling you, Biden, Harris and everyone else that it WAS affordable. Much more affordable. That’s the point. And your response to them is “You don’t know what’s happening in your own life. You need to be mad about abortion! That’s what matters to you!”

Great campaign strategy.

I am living just a little above paycheck to paycheck. Little savings where I can. I voted for what I thought was the well-being of others and not myself.
Must not have children. To many people “Others” means their three kids. Why on earth would you vote for someone other than your children?

Not a single one of them. But he was President when shit was way cheaper. That’s a strong card to be holding.
I mean gas price went down for a year about a buck cheaper because our Trump-led country was in lockdown and not driving. Earning power was significantly less too. And the tradeoff was 1million+ Americans dead. Of course this nuance is lost on A LOT of voters.

I have kids. I'm not getting into this...

Ultimately, my life wasn't going to be impacted much either way other than if Trump kills the dept. of Education.

My message was that Trump is a rapist felon who has no idea how to fix inflation and that he will probably make inflation worse.

And the voters response to your message is, we will take our chances with the rapist felon we already had when shit was way cheaper. Over the lady who was put in charge of the border and never went there once.

Shit was cheaper before we printed $5 trillion in COVID relief. Gas was way cheaper when people couldn't drive anywhere.
Trump's been writing checks that his brain can't cash. No taxes on overtime? No taxes on tips. Energy cost will be cut in half in the first year? Let's check back in January of 26 and see how that's working out.
Right now I see a lot of conservatives that remind me of my fellow Husker fans in the off season.
