At what moment did you realize..

The spark started while sweating my a$$ off in Kinnick when the Hawks had a 31-0 lead on a team many predicted would give us fits. The Wisconsin win showed me this team won't roll over like teams in the past. After the Northwestern smackdown, I couldn't help but look at the schedule and see 12-0 and a possible run at the national title. Made every game this year a little more tense. Had to drink a little more and every score was that much more exciting. Loving it.

Had a feeling after the Pitt game. Had tickets to the game, and on that Tues leading up to the game, my father passed at the young age of 60. After watching Koehn nail the 57 yarder, I had a special feeling about this year. I'm not trying to get all sobby here, but I can tell you I have been fairly confident in every game this year. Dad was a huge Hawkeye fan, and I know he is watching above smiling down on how amazing this season is. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I will take it. Go Hawks!

The pivotal moment of the season was the fake FG against Illinois St. If you were in the crowd at that moment then you would understand. Also, if you watch a replay of the game, it appears that Kirk Ferentz was a little emotional at that moment and almost to say that win or lose that we were going to fight the rest of the season.

This. At that moment hawkeye football as I knew it had evolved into something new and fresh and exciting.

Agree that after beating a good NW in such convincing fashion in a game I expected to be a down-to-the-wire one score game 12-0 seemed like a possibility.

Your point about the IL State game was spot on. If you were at the game.... it just had a different feel to it. Something was up and you could feel it. KF had the team ready and there were as sharp as I can ever recall for an opening game in a long time. CJ was 100% healthy and looked really, really good too so that seemed to confirm the choice even more. I never saw 12-0 coming at that point but thought if they beat ISU they had a chance at 8-9. Going into the year I was thinking 6-6.

After NW I just wondered if we would stub our toe which has always seemed to happen in previous years.

Given great play, team chemistry, coaching to our strengths, taking some risks and just lucky breaks.... goes to show how difficult it is to do what KF, staff and players just did at Iowa. Wow!

This season could be special. Not that we would be 12-0, but that it could be a good season? For me, I think having Brett Greenwood as honorary captain, then Koehn kick the winning field goal. Something special that night.
Seeing the team after Koehn's field goal.

When BF tweeted after the first game something to the effect of "We will continue to attack, stay with us!" or something like that
