Attendance tonight?

Start time is definitely the #1 problem. Took some of the team down after practice. Got home at 11:15pm....made for a tough Friday.

Iowa and Carver's biggest problem is that they still are catering to the "pull-over" sweater crowd. I am saying that being a 50+ year old. We were in the 4th row baseline extented...I looked around and the median age from there to the other baseline up there. It is not college basketball friendly when you compare it to the Michigan St, Michigan, Nebraska, ect.... Something has to change in the seating to get the students excited. They are the ones to bring the noise, not the Antigua sweater bunch.

I've posted about it before, but being in Omaha, I'm able to attend a ton of Creighton games. Those games are basically seen as "the place to be" in Omaha - to the point where the Bluejays pretty consistently have top 15 crowds, even during the week. The atmosphere is family friendly, and it feels more like a basketball game centered around a social event rather than a social event centered around a basketball game.

Regardless of peoples' motives for being there, the place gets loud and is a solid home court advantage. I went to an Iowa game last year (and it was over winter break, so the students were away), but the building just had a totally different feel to it. Even when it got kind of loud, I never felt a whole lot of energy. It would be nice to see Iowa take some notes from Creighton/CenturyLink Center and try to be more appealing to non-basketball fans/families
One thing that helps their attendance is most of the motels that I have stayed at in the area have 2 for 1 ticket coupons in the rooms!

People getting told to sit down happens but it is largely a myth.
I was told to be quiet by an old blue hair. An even older lady told me to kep cheering.

There should be at least a group of seats for free student admission, 500- 1000 seats. I would kill ( not really) to have a Hilton like atmosphere at CHA.

I remember the four corners in the early 80s; one of the worst offenses ever committed against college basketball.
To see the stars of that era day standing around and holding the ball was an incredible disservice to fans.

remember the Minnesota 3OT game which was suppose to be the last game in the fieldhouse..was sitting in the East stands under the big Herky..3 OT 3 four corners..did Gannon commit the foul?

Sports Illustrated had a good article...I can see myself (barely) on the last sec OT shots in a couple of the SI pics...I show it to my grandkids..they look at me like you old fart..there is no way you can tell if that's you...BUT it is..a blurred version.
