B1G (4) & SEC (4) want 8 automatic CFP berths starting in 2026

Let's say a team is sitting at #12 this year in AP and Coaches polls. They getting in most likely or could #14 pass them by just because committee knows better or #14 would bring better matchup and ratings?

Who ever the CFP committee marches out to justify their selections will have a very well-worded response. The reality is that TV, ESPN, and money will dictate A LOT of their decision-making. A well-deserving team NOT from the Big 10 + SEC will get snubbed. Guarantee it.

As much as Hawk fans despise this thought the truth is that Iowa State has an easier path to the CFP than Iowa. This year + beyond. A lot of things have to go right for ISU to win the Big 12, but it's more reasonable than Iowa winning the Big 10. Honestly its bc the Big 10 has more GREAT teams at the top. Big 12 seems to have several good (but not great) teams at the top. ISU is in that mix this year.

For those people who complain that the Big 12 is getting a top 4 seed, consider this. You HAVE TO reward the conference champs. Otherwise, it will become a SEC + Big 10 invitational. Your TV audience (the only thing that matters) will be drastically reduced nationally.

In the end, your semis may end up being Bama, Texas, Ohio State, and Georgia....and thats fine. They are probably the best four teams. Just imagine how awesome it would be (for ISU fans anyway) to have a Georgia come to Jack Trice. It may not end well for ISU, but stranger tbings have happened (beating #2 Okie State at home in 2012). VERY unlikely, but one can dream.

I've got my hopes up too many times over the years, so I'm not expecting ISU to the CFP to happen....but it's not completely unreasonable.

For now, beat Baylor this week at home

You should have two goals this week;

Beat Baylor at home and go back to CyFan.

It is an abomination the Big 12 champion gets a #4 seed this year.

If it makes you feel better they aren't guaranteed the 4 seed. Nobody seems to understand the rule, it's the five highest rated conference champions (Big 4 conference champions and then highest rated Power 5 conference champion), but if the Power 5 conference champion is higher rated than the B12 champion they would get the 4 seed not the B12 champion. Something to root for!

Realistically they should. I think it's time for them to add two more teams each then split away from the NCAA when it comes to football.

This is what happens when, after realignment, we are clearly left with the POWER 2 (B1G, SEC) and the Other 2 (ACC, Big 12).
