I keep saying there is no guarantee a 13-0 Iowa makes the CFP. With an OOC like this, it could be even harder. Especially with some squeakers like we had in 15.

Oh please. There won’t be more then one other undefeated p5 team in the nation come playoff team. If Iowa takes care of business they could have schedule 3 games against uni and still make it. I’m sick of this whiny bs about our OOC and SOS. It’s a cop out. Fact 13-0 makes the playoff 99.9% of the time.
13-0 means we beat Wisconsin, Penn State, and probably Ohio State. We'd be in.
Given how we played today ... still not good enough to beat PSU if you ask me. We still have a lot to improve upon.
We aren't getting in over clemson or the sec, period.
Add an undefeated ND and WA and we have virtually zero chance.
We'd have a a really good chance, but it is no guarantee.

I still wouldn't put my money on us beating wiscy either. One bad game doesn't make them bad. If we make this many mistakes next week, it could be a long game. Lots of positive signs tonight though!

Then the playoff has failed to do what it was supposed to do. I think it failed last year not letting UCF in.
Maryland with all their issues was still a headscratcher. Talent to beat Texas which is rolling USC. Temple raped Maryland.

From the looks of Iowa and Wisconsin ... next week is setting up to be an ugly game. A backyard brawl sort of game ... could be anybody's game.
I'm not counting next week as a win for Iowa ... but right now, I'm still counting the PSU game at Happy Valley as a loss. Good thing they still need to play the game ....

Yup, I'm a little old school in that what is bad for my competition is good for me. Isu, Debbie, Northwestern, Becky, Ill, Purdue all losing makes me happy.

How we played wasn't at issue. H4wkfan said there's no guarantee that we'd be in if we were 13-0 and I said the wins it would take for us to be 13-0 would get us in.
So the B1G went 6 - 7 today! Our division was 2 - 5! The B1G was 1 - 2 vs the American Conference today. Also 0 - 1 vs the might Sun Belt. Rutgers got destroyed by Kansas. Rutgers gave up 400yds rushing to Kansas! Wow. So, our rivals ISU, Nebraska, and of course our most bitter rival Purdue are all winless.
So... this would not be comforting...

Illinois and Northwestern have to go 5-4 in conference play to make a bowl.
Realistically, Iowa and Wisconsin will make a bowl and right now Minnesota only needs to go 3-6.
This does not bode well for the Big Ten West

Not sure I buy simply “making a bowl” is the goal like it was maybe 30 years ago. There are so many crap bowls now, I doubt it motivates mediocre teams much. Especially those that had bigger aspirations (Neb, Purdue, etc)
Still matters when looking at who gets selected for the playoff. More wins over bowl teams helps your chances.
Ok, sure, maybe. But at this point, after today’s results, it sure as hell feels like Iowa or Wisconsin has to run the table including the CCG do get a nod. Anything else will be a half measure.
You want to add an undefeated team that has already been defeated? You're a dumb**** if you think an undefeated BIG team gets left out.
