So does every team in the nation except Alabama.Given how we played today ... still not good enough to beat PSU if you ask me. We still have a lot to improve upon.

What truthfully works is your NAME. Ala., Geo., OS, OK, ND. PSStill matters when looking at who gets selected for the playoff. More wins over bowl teams helps your chances.
Only time will tell bud. It is POSSIBLE.You want to add an undefeated team that has already been defeated? You're a dumb**** if you think an undefeated BIG team gets left out.
You got me there.Good thing one of those teams isn’t undefeated.
which is why you won't see a 9 game sec sched in the near futureStill matters when looking at who gets selected for the playoff. More wins over bowl teams helps your chances.
Not sure I buy simply “making a bowl” is the goal like it was maybe 30 years ago. There are so many crap bowls now, I doubt it motivates mediocre teams much. Especially those that had bigger aspirations (Neb, Purdue, etc)
If they beat Wisconsin, at PSU, and likely OSU in the championship, I would GAURANTEE they would be in the playoff.I keep saying there is no guarantee a 13-0 Iowa makes the CFP. With an OOC like this, it could be even harder. Especially with some squeakers like we had in 15.
I don't think we can talk crap about any conference right now.....

If Iowa goes 13-0, I think the candy a$$ sked keeps us out.If we make it to 13-0, it means we've run our schedule and won the conference championship game against likely either tOSU or PSU. No way we wouldn't be in the playoffs
Fact 13-0 makes the playoff 99.9% of the time.

when we quit playing psu and start playing ru every year, we are gonna have a REALLY shitty schedule every now and then.I will bet you any amount of money that an undefeated Iowa team, this year or any subsequent year, makes the CFP regardless of schedule strength. It’s incredibly difficult to maintain an undefeated season in a P5 conference. From 2014-2016 one team was left undefeated each year before the playoffs. There were none in 2017.

Wiscy could be the only ranked team we play.
If we win close games vs garbage teams, that isn't going to impress the committee and I guarantee you they won't care what anyone has to say if they were to leave us out.
i'm in no way saying we WON'T make the playoff if we go undefeated....just that there is a CHANCE we wouldn't. Whoever wants to disagree, go right ahead. I HOPE we get a chance to find out![]()
Laugh all you want, but Nebraska is likely to be decent in the near future as well. I don't think the West is going to be the door mat division forever.when we quit playing psu and start playing ru every year, we are gonna have a REALLY shitty schedule every now and then.

I hope you are right, well at least the 2nd part.Laugh all you want, but Nebraska is likely to be decent in the near future as well. I don't think the West is going to be the door mat division forever.
hope we do a litttle stronger OOC for the other 2 games!2024 looks like the only year you could make that argument. 2020 looks like it could be a bear of a schedule depending on how good MSU and Nebraska are.
