IU - Clifton Moore
Iowa- Maishe Dailey
Neb - Thomas Allen
NW - Barrett Benson, Aaron Falzon
OSU - Jaedon LeDee
Wisc - Tai Strickland

Does NW have decent underclassmen and/or recruits coming in? With Law and Pardon gone, they are gonna be thin.

They have 1 Top 100 kid and two 3 stars coming in their 2019 class. They will probably be the worst team in the conference next year.

NW and Nebraska are both going to be pretty bad next year. On top of finishing in the bottom 4 of the conference both lose 3 starting seniors plus Roby could go pro for the Huskers. Both have guys who played meaningful minutes transferring. Freddy and Collins better hit the transfer market hard this spring and summer.

I was talking to one of my med school buddies who happens to be a Wisconsin fan and he is really concerned with their roster for next year, not much for offensive firepower left without Happ. He was guessing bottom half of the B1G.

They lose Iverson too.

There’s plenty of time for kids to get in trouble between now and next season. First call the atty. , next call Fred.

Wisconsin does have Ohio State transfer Micah Potter eligible for next season after sitting out this season.

If Roby goes pro or leaves, Nebraska will be awful.

He can’t take the dismissed thugs from big ten programs like he did at isu so I wonder where he will get his players now

I can think of one non big 10 guy he can get for next year. Cam Lard.

That being said be interesting to see how many guys he actually does brings in this summer. However lucky for him rules have relaxed making it easier to transfer within the conference now these days.

Wisconsin, OSU, Indiana, and Purdue (and probably Michigan) too high. Maryland, Rutgers, and Illinois too low. Illini finished tied for tenth this year with four freshman as their leading scorers. All will be back (including two all big ten freshman in Dosumo and Frazier) plus they add a top 40 big and another 4* big and they are going to finish 11th? Not buying. They are probably a bubble team. Almost the same story with Rutgers. Maryland loses Bruno but will make tourney again.

OSU will be loaded with talent but it is young. Not going to finish that high. IU will suck and PU and Wisconsin will be hurting without Edwards and Haap.

This is at the half way point of the conference schedule- then they lose 4 out of 5 and slide to 10-10.

Yeah, my buddy is a huge Badger fan. He has some doubts about Gard and concerned in how they will look without Happ. Would die to have Bo back. He’s worried about their guards - thinks Trice and Davidson have capped out and said they could hit anything from outside at end of the year. Does think Reivers will be a star.

With seniors departing and now throwing these transfers NW and Nebraska will be lucky to have enough guys to play 5 on 5 this summer. Look for these 2 to battle it out for 13th next year.

Badgers fans ripped me when I said word is still out on Gard. How he inherited 4 junior starters and Happ for his 1st 2 years. Then missed tourney in year 3 and rode Happ this year. They claimed he "recruited" all the great players for Bo but let's be honest most players don't come to schools because of the assistant. They will be thin on the front line next and will be interesting to see how they are post Happ when others like as you mentioned Trice and Davidson are counted on to be the main guys.

Illinois will lose AYO to pros.
Purdue has depth and talent. Top three remain locked. RU will rise. PSU will also if their stars stay.Hawks can fight for 4th..and a decent seed if TC returns.

My buddy gave Gard the benefit of the doubt but the last few years losing his faith in Gard. He (and other Badger fans) were spoiled by Bo. Like I said he thinks very highly of Reivers and thinks he will be the next great Badger big man. But he is not thrilled with their Guards and is interested (but worried) of how they will look without Happ to rely on.

I think Wisconsin will be fine. Potter will help inside, REUVERS will be a brute, Kobe King is a stud. Davison and Trice will be fine. We also have Ford and Pritzl back for shooting. a couple of Redshirt Frosh big men who will contribute. Wahl coming in will be in the top 6 of the rotation. Gard is really good. very cerebral. Going into 5th year. his record is 80-47 he has made the NCAA 3 times out of 4. 2 sweet 16's. He has finished 2nd 3rd 9th, and 4th in the conference. I see another top 4 finish this season. Any Badger fan that actually know what the program is is about and where its headed thinks your so called Badger friends really are clueless. I Look for Gard to help out the depth with a potential Grad Transfer or two soon.

Sorry man my buddy is a "die-hard" Badger season ticket holder for years and was a pretty good basketball player. He still backs the team and he still knows they have a good program and of course wants them to be be great. That said, he is also realistic. He is very high on Reuvers. He has viable questions about Davison and Trice. He isn't saying they are going to be bad - he is saying that he has questions and not sold on Gard (which even he admits is because Badger fans were spoiled by Ryan).

Just because there are other Badger fans that are objective and realistic doesn't mean they are clueless, it means you are more likely a homer that can't/won't admit that there could be issues or questions (which every fan base has a lot of including Iowa's). The fact that you call Kobe King a "stud" is all I need to know about your objectivity. If he is a "stud" Iowa has about 8 of them on their team. I realize he was a highly rated recruit but he has yet to prove he is anywhere close to a stud. A stud doesn't average 4 points a game and score 22 TOTAL points in his last 5 games (with one of those games being 13 points). I know he might be better next year and eventually a very solid SG for Wisconsin but please try to be realistic.

Fair enough. I know plenty of highly objective people who would disagree with your friend. He may be objective but him not sold on Gard are without merit. Just saying he is working off Ryan's recruits is wrong. Anyone around the program knows the depth of Gards involvement in recruiting. Mistakes were made regarding the Hausers. That in fact can be traced back to Bo and his disinterest in recruiting. Stud may have been a little over the top regarding King.

I never said he said Gard was living off Ryan’s recruits or that he said Gard couldn’t recruit. He did say he wasn’t sold that Gard could get the team back up to the level that Ryan had them at - and keep them there - and I think that is more then a fair question. Also, he said he would do about anything to get Ryan back.

Doesn't Nebraska have Dachon Burke eligible next year? He was a stud for Robert Morris. If Fred can convince Roby to stay and can go out and grab some quality grad transfers I could see Nebraska land somewhere between 7th - 10th and possibly sneak into the dance.

That’s a lot of ifs ands & buts for a team losing so much and finishing in the bottom 4 last year.

Right but Fred is the guy that has a proven track record of turning ifs and buts into candy and nuts. Look at Texas Tech after last year they had a lot of ? marks but then Beard went out and grabbed a couple grad transfers in Mooney and Owen's and look at them now. Roby and Burke are a nice core to build from. If Fred gets a Mooney and Owen's on the transfer market Nebraska is all of a sudden in the middle of the B1G.

I don't know many people that are clamoring to get Ryan back. We want to win at those levels. The way he departed has left a bad taste in most Badger fans mouths. I would say that your friend is a conflating winning with nostalgia. We can win without Ryan. Gard is doing just fine. the record proves it. Certainly wouldn't trade him for anyone in this conference that is not named Izzo. Your buddy is full of crap.

Their roster right now is maybe worse than what Fran inherited. As of this day you could argue they have maybe the worst roster in the conference. Though NW is pretty close to them. They are losing 4 seniors who all started at one point during the season and played a ton of minutes. They already have one guy in starting guard Thomas Allen transferring to NC St and another Akenten who was their 6th man was suspend from the program towards the end of the year not on the roster right now was one of many gone who saw significant minutes last year.

On top of it Roby entered his name into the draft yesterday but not hiring an agent so still a chance he could come back. If Roby left along with the suspended player that would mean their top 8 scorers from last year would all be gone from a poor squad as is. If he does return then their 2nd leading returning scorer would be walk on Johnny Trueblood who avg 2.2 pts last year... Even if Roby stayed they have zero proven front court players. They'd need a lot more than 1 or 2 grad transfers to compete for a tourney spot next year let alone to finish in the top 10 of the conference.

I'd take John Beilen and Matt Painter after Izzo over any coach in the conference. Can't argue with those 3 being the top tier with their track record. Right now put guys like Gard and Mark Turgeon in tier below them. Wisconsin just like Purdue be interesting to see how they look after losing their alpha dog next year who saw bulk of attention from other teams (assuming Edwards goes pro). Can argue those 2 players were probably the most valuable to their teams last year in the conference.
