i have been there. You will walk Back to your hotel and go to the bar to help with your miseries. You and your friends will pout and talk about a play or two that could’ve changed the game. For you guys it was the pass interference call that you did not get when you were called for holding it should’ve been offsetting penalties. For Iowa it was our linebacker getting tackled on the winning TD and the MSU fullback flinching on the same play.

You will toss and turn in your hotel bed tonight and keep playing a couple key plays over and over again your mind and what could’ve been.

You will not want to listen to sports talk radio as you drive back from Indianapolis because you know what could’ve been. You will get a text or a call about halfway home that you’re gone the Rose Bowl and you will still feel like crap.

Meh, they should just be happy they were able to steal van ginkel or it would have been a beat down!

This loss won't burn Badgers fans like the Iowa loss burns us. Yes, they miss the playoff like Iowa did, which sucks hard. But, as OP pointed out, Iowa lost on a play that had AT LEAST two uncalled holds. That's a pill we're still choking on. Wisconsin just lost today. Sucks for them but there's no controversy they have to deal with like Iowa had to. Simply losing is easier to get over than getting jobbed losing.

Crazy to think two more seasons have expired since the magical run to Indy. As a fan I would do anything to get back there, and to start competing for titles instead of 3rd place in the West.

I can't understand how Iowa could look so bad against Wisconsin. After watching Wisconsin play OSU, they definitely don't have the talented players the Buckeyes have. Their talent is not all that much better than Iowa's if at all. The only thing is maybe Wisconsin has a more veteran team. It just goes to show that when Iowa is ready to play they can beat anybody but when they're not ready to play or are flat, anyone can beat the Hawks.

True. But in fairness, JT Barrett made a couple plays that kept Wisconsin in the game. Without Mr. Barrett's help, Wisconsin isn't even close.

If Badgers go from near miss in B1G championship to Woodshed beating in Bowl game----then I think Iowa and Wisconsin fans will have had similar experience. The experience of being blown out by mid 1st quarter in bowl game seems to be a Ferentzian specialty.

Wisconsin was lucky to be in that game--- Pick6 score, luck INT off tipped ball, Barrett missed a couple wide open TD passes, and OSU receiver dropped a TD ball.

Well, yes, Wisconsin was "lucky" to be in that game, but you do remember Iowa's game against Penn State, right? And Barrett did a nice job of tossing four INTs at Iowa, too, so....

I thought good teams often cause and usually take advantage of other team's mistakes. So which is it?

How many games has Iowa lost over the years because they "give the game away" with turnovers?

Of the dozens and dozens and dozens of those games, one comes to mind as a classic example. During the Bob Commings' years, Iowa played at USC. (In those days, there weren't many Ball States on the schedule.) Anyway, Iowa moved the ball up and down the field all game long, only to lose something like 42-7. (Look it up if you want.) Twice Iowa fumbled at the USC one yard line, and TWICE USC plucked the ball out of the air and returned it over 90 yards for touchdowns. I believe Iowa outgained USC that day something like 450 yards to 250 yards.

Now was USC "lucky" to win that game or was Iowa "unlucky" to dominate the stats only to be dominated on the scoreboard?

I think it's the idea that OSU looked like the far superior team all game long, and Wisky was fortunate to have had some pretty bad picks come their way that kept it close. But 9/10 times OSU wins that game, and 5/10 times it's probably not even all that close. On a neutral field, in the big game setting, OSU is just the better team.
