Thank you. Thank you for setting the standard for how I play at Iowa. Thank you for being a reminder of how to play with Iowa pride when wearing the Hawkeye uniform. Your spirit lives on in this Iowa program. Happy 45th birthday to this Hawkeye legend. #Forever40

He also posted a picture of the Chris Street plaque that is outside the Iowa locker room.

I was like 8 or 9 when I heard on the news about this tragedy, it was a sad season for me. It was really hard for me to watch games that year I was young but brought a lot of tears in my eyes as he was my favorite player.

My wife and I made a Scrapbook of Chris Street after his accident. Hawks played in a fundraising event at our school. Wade Lookingbill literally studied the scrapbook and had tears in his eyes. So cool to see the loyalty from him.

ESPN had an article top 25 players who died before their prime most were drug overdoses. They ranked street 5th. Article from 6 years ago.

I remember hearing Val Barnes was supposed to be with him but decided to stay after practice.

This is just something Iowans will never forget and something that still hurts thinking about it. Such a great human being was taken from us.

You are so right. It still hurts and it still gives me chills when he is brought up.
