essentially that was the reward for bama. Yes I know OSU was awarded a spot last season w/o having to play in a "ship" game, but it's bogus either way. Should HAVE to win conference championship to have a chance @ play off.
Gonna be an all sec Nat champ game & we will never hear the end of it.

UCF has a better resume than Alabama. With LSU and Auburn losing the SEC has shown to be watered down. Georgia deserves their shot, Alabama will get into the Championship with one great win.

Best 4? I think by their "standards" they got it right except for Bama. Now, who you replace them with is beyond me. No rhyme or reason to have a team sitting at home be gifted a chance for a title during conf champ week. No way should a team be able to lose in the last few weeks of regular season and be in playoffs. It was a beauty contest

I was okay with Alabama this year, mostly because this was a truly odd year that no one had a truly great argument for the 4th spot. Clemson, Oklahoma and Georgia did. Ohio State had two losses but won its conference, Alabama did not but had the better pedigree.

Clemson has played poorly on offense tonight, it’s defense deserves better.

But as it was, Alabama lost one game, on the road, to their instate rival. Their only loss.

That instate rival (Auburn) won the division with the same conference record, but had the head to head W at home. Unbalanced schedule.

I agree about Saban’s face, but how did UCF have a better resume?

UCF’s SOS was (83) according to Sagarin with their best wins being Memphis twice (31 Sagarin), So Florida (41 Sagarin) and Navy (55 Sagarin).

UCF has a valid argument to be in the playoffs, but a better resume than Alabama you’ll never convince me there.

I don’t like Alabama. I don’t like Saban, and I’ll be the first say that top to bottom the B1G is as good as the SEC. Probably better. The four team playoff is about using the best four teams to find the best team. Alabama is clearly one of the best four teams in the country.

I don’t like Wisconsin. So they shouldn’t get a chance to win the West or B1G. I don’t like MSU and Duke basketball. They shouldn’t be allowed in the NCAA tournament. I don’t care if they’re good. Sounds logical.

Alabama would most likely be a double digit favorite vs UCF. Alabama would be undefeated with UCF’s schedule. How many losses would UCF have with Alabama’s schedule?

Looking at SOS on Sagarin, Alabama is 57th, Wisconsin 44, and OSU is 8. Given the SEC is a paper tiger this year and the B10 isn't at 7-1 I think we can make the argument of who should be in and who shouldn't.

OSU may have gotten curb stomped by Iowa but it's not like Iowa is a terrible team. We played 9 teams that went to bowls this year with a bowl win record of 8-1 (8-2 if you want to count BC). Our stentgh if schedule was 3rd in the country.
