Banks Approve of Republicans Increasing Bank Fees

Overdraft protection is a service that helps customers avoid returned checks or NSF charges. What do you feel an appropriate fee is for this service? Or do you feel that people should be able to spend more than they have in their account without incurring a fee?

Customers have the option to opt out of overdraft protection, by the way.

How about the card company just declines the charge? Listen to a pod and the commenter lamented the time he he was a broke campaign staffer and made photocopies. His bank charged him $35 for each copy.

OD fees are a good idea in theory but people abuse their OD privileges. If the fee goes away so will all the overdraft privileges. The consumer will always lose.

Yes. No reason to have checks anymore. Financial institutions would know to the penny what their clients' balance is in real time. If they don't have enough money in their account the transaction is denied. I just can't put my finger on why this won't happen.

Every-time you swipe your card there are about a dozen things that have to happen to comply with regulations, prevent fraud and process the transaction.

My 88 year old aunt does not have a debit card.
I think it is easier to get get a debit card than to write a check for an 81 year old. I hear a lot of arguments for not having voter ID. Edit: She can actually call the bank and have them send her one. I am not sure you can do that with the DMV.

This has to be legislation we can all get behind. Should be a boon for banks as people overdraft on the ever rising egg prices.

Banks, like farmers, work damn hard for their money 💰 while you sit on HROT bitching and complaining all day.

Please, don't use facts and common sense, the left will never understand it.

Do they not have a debit card?
Do all counties accept debit cards as a payment for property taxes? Would they charge an additional fee to do so? Would they accept information over the phone, or would said old person need to waste time, money, and potentially the same fir others (if they don’t drive) to pay in person?

Why should they get impacted by the irresponsibility of others?

Thank god, it’s about time someone stand up against all these vicious, loser liberals who don’t know how to manage their finances. It’s not banks fault, and they shouldn’t be taken advantage of like this.

Maybe if we taught personal finance and home economics vs woke DEI’ism in high schools we wouldn’t have this problem!!
