You’re not stopping people from owning them. You’re stopping people from selling them. Nothing in the BOR about that.

Ban the sale of whatever gun you want to get rid of. And ban the sale of the bullets for it. Make it a big penalty if caught doing this. Loss of license, huge fine, jail.

Has that been discussed by anti-gun people?

The SCOTUS said this when they found a trigger lock requirement as unconstitutional:

"Similarly, the requirement that any lawful firearm in the home be disassembled or bound by a trigger lock makes it impossible for citizens to use arms for the core lawful purpose of self-defense and is hence unconstitutional."

Yellow has never heard of Heller.

I’ve had similar thoughts about this and think you could eventually get to a similar result by just banning/restricting the sale of ammunition for certain types of weapons.

The challenge would be to add some sort of ID system to the ammunition that is sold and have a registry of whom the ammunition is sold to. Any non LEO purchasers would ultimately be liable if ammunition they purchased was connected to the commission of a crime.

Stupid.

The OP is a moron. Infringed-
act so as to limit or undermine (something); encroach on. “his legal rights were being infringed"
Nope. Our government decides every day what can and can’t be sold in this country. Hell, they’re about to ban Tik Tok, first amendment be damned.

They just throw words around like “National crisis/ emergency” and make up whatever shit they want. Are you new here?

And what are they trying to ban assault rifles for? Watch the news? 1900 school shootings in last three years seems to be a worthy cause. Maybe as worthy as “Chinese has access to kids dancing in sweatpants videos”.

I don’t even necessarily believe they should do it. I’m just saying I’m surprised they haven’t approached it from this angle.

I laugh every time I hear Biden bring this up. Military style weapons are the dictionary definition of what the Second protects.

What determines the sale ban? Caliber? Firing speed? Combination of the two? Semi auto with pistol grip? In other words, what makes it an AR? Is it a brand?

Assault rifles have been illegal in the U.S. for decades. What everybody’s talking about banning now is assault weapons.

So we just tell our 18 year old army/marine infantry— “good luck”?

What if they wanted to hunt? Is 18 too young to hunt?

Don’t be a dipshit about the military comment. That is not an apples to apples comparison.

I was unaware you can only hunt with a gun. It’s almost like thousands of years of hunting without guns never existed.

It was a tongue in cheek comment for sure, just as I assume yours was.

Not too young to hunt. However, in today's world do you want 18 year olds walking around with permitless carry? How about certain guns until you turn 21? Guns to hunt only. There needs to be some common sense.
